well it is 609 welcome back schools all,over the nation are experiencing teacher,shortages yeah and that is why,alternative or non-traditional teacher,certifications were initially introduced,and that was to help fill those,positions but some educators are saying,these alternative certifications are,creating a learning gap for new teachers,and happening in new this morning,Aaron fields joins us to tell us more,about the issues that people are having,with these non-traditional licenses so,Aaron what is this all about,yes stem Alicia so I think we all kind,of learn something new every day no,matter how long youve been in the,profession I know this be my first job,right after college Im learning,something every day from you you and,amber sure but some experts are saying,that three less years of education means,less experience in the classroom i sat,down with the teacher that has a,four-year degree and one that has an,alternative teaching license to see what,they thought I didnt essentially go to,school to be a teacher I went to school,to be a nurse and I actually when I,graduated was a nurse like most people,in life birth decided to change her,career path shes now a medical related,careers instructor at the Bismark Career,Academy instead of going back to school,for another four years to become a,teacher she decided to do a one-year,GAAP course that gave her an alternative,teacher certification she broke down the,process for me I had to have at least,eighty thousand hours of experience in,my specialty field and then once I got,hired here to bridge the gap because I,dont have an undergraduate degree in,teaching were required so we issued a,preliminary license for two years and,then within those two years I have to,complete a bridge course called,transition to teaching which will,essentially teach me how to teach,bare says during the year she learned,how to create syllabuses classroom,management curriculum development and,assessments and how to interact with,kids we know the superintendents and,other school boards perhaps want,different routes by which they can,license teachers so that they can get,people in front of those kids as soon as,possible,Archuleta whos been an educator for,years says by not going through,traditional training these teachers are,missing out on a lot of essential,practice today,a trained teacher would take courses in,child psychology or adolescent,psychology learn about brain development,and age appropriateness for different,lessons and actually have practicum in,the field as well as a student teaching,experience so that they are well trained,by the time they get into the classroom,Archuleta tells me that the average,person graduating with an education,degree in North Dakota graduates with,about $28,000 in debt he says these,agrees mean a lot to the teachers what,many of our members have expressed to us,is that by allowing many different forms,of alternative licensure that cheapens,the degree that they worked hard and,paid for it and and frankly it doesnt,do much to build a profession you know,some of it is we werent just picked off,of the street and given to anybody you,still have to meet qualifications and I,still had to show that I do bring in,value and knowledge and an area of,expertise to the students bears admits,that teachers with those four-year,degrees have a lot more background,knowledge than she does but says with,any profession nobodys gonna know,everything right off the bat you know,like my path I can bring a lot of value,in my experience to it and so you cant,discredit that because I havent had the,degree it was a really hard learning,curve but thats where I say honestly,when I graduated from nursing school the,first year of my being a nurse was a,really hard learning curve and it would,be interesting to hear a four year,teaching degree that first year was,probably really hard learning curve,bears told me each day she learned,something new from her students and,continues to grow as a teacher and she,also told me most of the teachers at the,Career Academy got their teachers,teacher licenses from an alternative,route but theres also a hundred and,seventy school districts that Ive,applied for the teacher loan forgiveness,program that we have in North Dakota so,this is a still a pretty big issue yeah,a big topic multifaceted issue you know,with interesting points on both sides I,agree thanks Erin Thank You Erin

hey everyone I am Tony and today I will,tell you pretty much how it became a,teacher without going to school for,education so I did not get my undergrad,in education not even my graduate degree,either but anyway did that entice you,make shake subscribe to my channel and,also just keep watching to see how it,became a teacher okay,okay so lets just jump right into this,because my story my back so hes a,little punk so I went to school for,business I did not go to school for,education I went to school for business,right and then my train job was means to,become a financial analyst for a fortune,500 company yeah,so when I did more research right I,realized that it would be best if I went,back to school for accounting for that,position so I wouldnt fool for,accounting and I hated it I hated it so,I dropped out so then someone came to me,it was like hey have you thought about,getting into education I was like oh not,only want to teach nobody shall I dont,have the energy kids or rude so I did it,about became less so so I can kiss up,and you know that was cool I was tough,at my kids school for convenience and,then someone came to me was I came my,school have a permanent teacher position,coming available you know come talk to,my principal and see how it goes so I,did they gave me the permanent off,supposition that came available because,the teacher walked off the job yes yeah,the teacher walked off the job middle of,the day and that was it after they put,me in that spot I built a good rapport,with the principal as well as assistant,principal because I was really reliable,and I was there on time every day and,very helpful I was really helpful like,anytime anybody anything I was you know,willing to help and things like that,because I was a sub so I didnt have,much responsibilities the business,teacher that was at the school where I,was serving lost her license due to not,be fulfilling the requirements and,I hope the principal counselor became,available to principal and he visited,interview me because he knew my work,ethic and he knew I didnt have any,prior teaching experience but he knew I,was getting the classroom and he with,the students and I knew the school so he,hired me so once I got hired right,[Music],Human Resources told me I had to fulfill,the beginning teacher requirements since,I did not have a teaching degree okay so,those beginning teacher requirements,right they consisted of education pretty,much going back to school or being,taught how to become how to be a teacher,classes management and things like that,taking your practice exam and fulfilling,and having a mentor at the third a,beginning teacher school requirement so,you know I have an immense for attending,the beginning teacher meetings and,things like that so those were the three,main things that you know I was proud of,me and I had to fulfill all three of,them within three years so yeah if,youre a beginning teacher or youre,looking for teaching positions right now,youre you know you just graduated dance,I think just looking at my video it came,across your you know your feed,I have another video for you that one is,beginning considering,teaching but you do not have a teaching,degree do not feel that you cannot teach,because you dont have a teaching degree,okay theres always a way,okay so right now I am licensed to teach,actually in two things so I think the,teaching of Kalama as well as Georgia,and all with Georgia,I had to fulfill a little bit of the,requirement what law I could fulfill so,our environments for them but it wasnt,I didnt have to go back to school or,anything because I was certified to,teach at North Carolina,dont feel as if you have to go to,school for education to become a teacher,so if you what does for something else,but you realize later on that you are,passive passionate about teaching go for,it and find out what you have to do and,just go for it okay so as I told you,before my name oh good evening believe it or not its,back-to-school time and tonight theres,a new fast-track option to hire,desperately needed teachers Utah school,districts can now hire people without a,teachers license or any classroom,experience new specialist Jade Bowl is,on our top story tonight Jed this new,policy took effect today right it did,Dini its called the academic path to,teaching or the apt here at the school,board theyre confident that it will,work and also help school districts that,are struggling to fill teacher vacancies,but the teachers that I talked to say,that theyre worried that it will lower,the standards of their profession thats,me when I was in first grade crystal de,Moss knew she wanted to teach at an,early age now she teaches first grade in,West Jordan and received her masters in,education from BYU today that program,stressed the teachers must have skill,disposition and knowledge and it cant,be just one it needs to be all three,teachers need skills to impart that,knowledge and she says thats whats,missing in the apt not just some of the,students all of the students every,student every day matters but the vice,chairman of the State Board believes the,ATP is a solution to long-term,substitutes were just adding this is,another tool is it going to remedy the,the teacher shortage no its just one,more tool in the toolbox that local,superintendents can use the apt,applicant needs a bachelors degree in,any field must pass the standardized,proficiency test and pass a background,check to be issued a teaching license,the applicant no longer has to take,college-level training courses the new,teacher would be supervised by a master,teacher for three years theres more,control in the districts for recruiting,and retaining teachers if we truly,believe in local control then we should,have some measure of confidence in our,districts their superintendents the,local Boards of Education but you dont,need to have a dime of experience in the,classroom with students the Utah,Education Association is were,we have so so many concerns about,lessening or decreasing the value of our,professional license so this is my,teacher license and de Moz isnt so sure,those new teachers will be ready Im not,sure that were sending up setting them,up with all the tools they need in their,toolbox to be successful the districts,dont need to go this route Dini but,its certainly one of the new options,that they now have so with a new option,though jet its easy to see two sides of,this on one hand it could decrease the,value of a teaching degree certainly and,thats really the concern that the,teachers that I talked to have but on,the other hand the State Board points,out that this is also a way to get,retired experts in their field into the,classroom to help teach our kids so,well have to see how this plays out in,the classroom in the months ahead,alright well certainly see Jed Thanks,so if youre wondering just how bad is,the need for teachers in our state take,a look at this in some of the districts,along the Wasatch Front showed zero,openings in the Jordan school district,taking a look at some of the others in,Salt Lake there are 19 teachers short,that they might be starting the year,with things arent much better in Provo,Weaver Davis granite again you can play,at any of these openings if you meet the,teaching requirements license or not,through the individual districts Mike,new tonight Unified

[Music],hello my friends teacher allison here,thank you so much for joining me today,we are going to talk about another,option available to online teachers,today it is substituting online im,going to share five different companies,with you,two of them do not require certification,and they are all national companies,there are many state-specific options,available out there but this one today,this video today will be talking about,companies that serve nationwide,today were going to look at five,different companies and those companies,include connections academy,k-12,elevate k-12,fusion,and proximity learning,the first company that were looking at,is connections academy also pearson,learning so you may find it underneath,that title as well,connections appears to have the best,rate of pay at 125 dollars a day,beyond that though they also offer an,additional 75,per month base pay this is that for your,first full year,and then you get a raise so to speak,every year until youre getting 250,dollars per month,as a base to your pay,for those of you who are wondering about,whether you need to have your bachelors,degree or certification for connections,academy,yes you do to be a substitute you will,need to have both of those and because,connections academy is available in,multiple states,if you are for example,wanting to teach for georgia connections,academy then you only need to have your,georgia state certificate,the grade levels available are,kindergarten through 12,and the hours that are available are,going to be normal school hours so,monday through friday 8 am to 4 pm,depending on the time zone for the,school where youre teaching their,substitute positions are not one-off,kind of substitute positions they are,long-term only theyre usually two weeks,or more they average about 12 weeks,during this time you do get a lot of,support,and additional training as youre,learning about this particular platform,also its a great foot in the door if,youre looking to have a full-time,position,with connections academy and as an aside,they do have a full-time position that,is considered a floating teacher or,internal sub and this person would,likely do the one-off when subbing,as well as other jobs that they have to,do on a regular basis full time,number two on our list is k-12 and its,also known as the stride company,as you can imagine by the name of the,company they do serve grades k through,12.,this is another one that you will need,to have your bachelors degree and your,certification for the state,when youre looking for this one simply,put your state in front of k-12 to find,more information so if you are teaching,currently in kansas just type in kansas,k-12 to find additional information but,i will put a link for all of these at,the bottom so that you can find more,information,number three on our list is elevate k12,not to be confused with k12 which we,just spoke about,elevate k-12 though is another company,that works with the students in the,regular schools,this one offers 20 an hour and again you,will need your certification and your,bachelors degree to be hired by this,company,although the name of the company does,include k-12 for this particular,substitute position they are looking for,grades six through 12 teachers,they offer 10 or more hours a week,monday through friday eight to four,again time zone dependent with this,particular position youre not being,hired as an employee of the company but,an independent contractor,the last two companies on our list are,for those of you whove been holding out,for those companies that dont require,certification the first one that were,going to talk about is a company called,fusion,now according to glassdoor fusion offers,17 to 39 per hour,i didnt get any specifics on that i,could not find pay directly on their,page so again that is just according to,glassdoor,do you need a bachelors degree yes,youll need a bachelors degree plus,they ask for expertise in relevant areas,uh certification they list as not,mandatory but it is a plus,and the grades that theyre looking at,again are six through 12. this is a,little bit of a different situation than,the other ones which have been pretty,much working with children in the school,systems or children that are deciding to,learn from home virtually this is a,one-on-one,experience and they ask for people with,experience with students that have adhd,or other learning differences and if you,have experience with mentoring students,thats a definite plus,the website does well to tell you how to,find substitute information on their,site,but also look for mentor substitutes if,you dont see that,they do have a variety of subjects,available for teaching including english,history spanish mandarin,asl french and math,last but not least is proximity learning,i just had an interview with them and,they offer twenty dollars an hour you,need your bachelors degree but you do,not need to be certified they do expect,you to have experience though and be,sure to highlight that on your resume,when applying with them their schedule,is probably the most flexible of the,ones that ive talked about today,they actually asks for a minimum of,three hours a day,and up to a full educational day so,maybe 7 30 to 4 oclock they have,classes youll be substituting for,another proximity teacher you could have,15 or 30 students in that classroom and,youre doing a lesson for that period of,time,during the day substituting for that,teacher so you will obviously have,lesson plans available to you,they do use,different platforms they use canvas,they use moby max then a pro they like,to use a variety of online tools such as,pair deck flip grid,near pod and that sort of thing,once again this is a normal school day,from monday through friday,and the kids are in the classroom and,you are the virtual instructor for this,group,one thing to keep in mind with this,particular company,is that they dont hire on a constant,basis,theyre only hiring maybe every two to,three months because they hire according,to their need,so the upside of that is that when you,are hired theres actually work,available,so unlike a lot of companies who are,just on boarding so many teachers,there and then theres not enough work,for them this is one situation where you,its not an oversaturated market go,ahead and fill out your application for,this company and then she mentioned that,its usually about two to three months,that they start onboarding new,substitute teachers again this is one,that if you do have your certificate you,can work full-time for them so again if,youre looking for a full-time position,at some point its another great foot in,the door you can certainly apply,for a full-time position there as well,just a few final options to consider,first of all,consider substituting in your own,districts brick and mortar schools,these schools are currently in a greater,sense of need because of covid and you,may discover that your school has an,incentive to get more substitute,teachers in my district they actually,doubled the pay for the 2021 school year,also you may discover that your district,has an online teacher or teachers that,are focused specifically just to those,students who are taking classes,virtually those teachers also need,substitutes so thats something you can,look Classroom for non-white students in Utah

every time,I hear something its just purely stupid,I try to do a video about it,been a little busy here lately,were going to talk about this,this was in the state of Utah,woke classroom,for non-white students,now this is a teacher teaching fourth,grade,first time teacher,you have no white students in your,classroom you dont want any white,students in your classroom anything else,is totally acceptable youve even took,your classroom,and broke it down,to where you dont even have,white kids in your coloring books I,dont Im exactly sure how you did that,one but,apparently somebody makes that,now,this country went through a whole lot,back in the 50s and 60s about racism,segregation in schools I own nine yards,youre doing the exact cop in the exact,opposite of what they did then,everybody I mean getting called a racist,now means absolutely nothing because,everybody uses it widespread of snow,same thing,children are supposed to be the,innocence of the world,and theyre supposed to be taught and,bad guy that doesnt have a damn thing,to do with color,but,now we have these wonderful teachers,that we have,wanted to do some crap like this,and you know and this teacher first time,teacher fourth grade,is white,but everybody in that classroom is black,maybe in Hispanic Maybe,earnation,now that,is racism,now,the school board in Utah has put this,woman on suspension,now they need to do more than that they,need to fire her ass,because if she is stupid enough,to pull a stunt like that,shes not bright enough to teach,because the only damn thing shes going,to teach is racism,now,we went through this crap in the 50s and,60s,this is 2022.,people need to quit this crap,flat bottom line and it doesnt matter,what color you are inflation doesnt,discriminate,the price youre painted pump doesnt,discriminate the pressure painting,grocery stores doesnt discriminate the,price youre paying for your utility,bills doesnt discriminate,it shouldnt be discriminated in,classrooms it shouldnt,be discriminating in jobs,I dont even know a profession I would,recommend her to go into and then and,and to show her true ignorance,shes going to sit here and make a video,about it,and let the whole world know what shes,doing,stupid,you can pull up some videos its been,all over the news,I mean my God,what the hells wrong with these people,in Loudoun County,Loudoun County Virginia school board,you gotta you had a registered sex,offender,twice convicted,as a school counselor,now this persons on administrative,leave now because now people know about,it,this person went on job two years,uh do you not do a background check,yall really need to get your,together,because between,teaching racing I know thats and,another thing all these colleges,because some colleges now you have where,white students cant be in the common,area of dorms,really,thats outrageous,your some of these colleges are wanting,to go back to segregation,thats stupid,that is absolutely stupid,Ill be talking more about education,later on today Im just waiting for our,illustrious uh jackass and chief,to say his comments about this student,loan debt,if you like what Im saying hit the like,button if you do not like what Im,saying hit the dislike button you do,agree hey leave comments I try to answer,many of them as I can,stop the racism,especially,when he comes,to little children,absolutely stupid
