investing in your health is one of the,best financial decisions you can make,when starting a new fitness program you,may be surprised to learn how much gym,memberships and exercise classes can,cost and youre probably wondering,whether its worth the money seeing the,price of pilates classes can cause a,similar reaction,by the end of this video youll know how,much you can expect to pay for pilates,and some factors that influence how much,youll pay,with this information you can begin a,class knowing youre making a wise,investment in your health,[Music],im mally reichard and im a physical,therapist,as well as a pilates instructor,at ew i teach a wide variety of classes,ranging from private sessions,semi-privates as well as group classes,today i want to discuss with you the,price of pilates classes and some,factors that go into making that price,the price of pilates can vary on a lot,of different factors for example the,size of your class,typically speaking a private session can,range anywhere from 50 to 150 and that,basically means one person,a semi-private two or more,can range anywhere from forty to ninety,dollars,and then lastly you have your group,sessions this can range anywhere from,fifteen to a hundred dollars a group,being three or more people i know what,youre thinking these prices are all,over the place,so lets dig a little bit deeper and,going into the factors of why these,prices are the way they are,there are multiple factors to consider,when choosing your type of class as we,talked about earlier the size of the,class is a big factor,typically speaking again private,sessions are going to be more expensive,rather than group classes that will be,less expensive,so if you find that a group class is,great for you it could be an awesome way,to be cost efficient secondly being the,equipment used in your studio,a mat class where you just have a mat,and typically hand weights is going to,be less expensive than if you go into a,studio with a reformer that has a tower,as well as a carriage that equipment is,expensive and typically those classes,might be a little smaller in size as,well this will be higher in your price,location location location this also is,a huge factor when it comes to pricing,for pilates classes,so say like in new york a big city,versus a rural area in mississippi these,prices are going to be completely,different also consider the setting in,which youre taking your pilates class a,pilates class in a physical therapy,office versus a non-health care location,can be very different the one-on-one,attention and the corrective attention,that you get from a physical therapist,is going to be a lot different than a,non-healthcare location,not to say that ones better versus the,other but they can be completely,different when price is involved as well,and lastly think about your instructor,just like getting your hair cut if you,go to someone whos been cutting hair,for a long time and has a lot of,certifications,their service is going to be a little,more expensive than if you go to someone,who has just started off and is brand,new pilates is the exact same way if you,have a say a physical therapist,giving you a pilates class rather than,someone who does not have a health,background,the prices can vary,thank you for watching now you know how,much you can expect to pay for pilates,and some of the factors that might,influence how much you pay,if youd like to learn more about,pilates click the link in our,description below to read our learning,center article on what is pilates,this article details some of the history,behind pilates the benefits of pilates,and some of the different types of,classes that there are if you found this,video helpful be sure to give it a,thumbs up and dont forget to subscribe,to our youtube channel to help you on,your physical therapy and wellness,journey

if youve ever taken a pilates class you,might be under the impression that it,wont be that challenging of a workout,but youd be completely wrong created by,Joseph Pilates a German bodybuilder and,gymnast Pilates began as a series of,core and postural exercises for soldiers,without access to much equipment since,then numerous professional athletes have,Incorporated Pilates into their workout,routines and Studios have popped up all,over the world one of the most popular,places to practice is Club Pilates these,classes are easy to find but is the,studio any good lets find out with a,full review what to know before your,first Club pilates class,all youll need to work out at Club,Pilates is a water bottle comfy workout,clothes and a pair of grippy socks,walking into Club Pilates one of the,first things youll notice is that while,it is a group class the setting is still,intimate with only a dozen workout,stations or so after being greeted and,checked in by one of the front desk,Representatives who are notoriously,friendly and seem to know all of the,members by their first name youll drop,your belongings in one of the provided,Cubbies and fill up your water before,heading into class most locations dont,offer amenities like showers or changing,rooms so its best to come dressed and,ready to go of course if youre lucky,youll be taking a class during a theme,day or holiday in which case youll be,encouraged to arrive in full costume,whats a club pilates class really like,along with the reformer machine which is,a specialized strength and flexibility,machine common in Pilates each station,inside the studio is equipped with an,EXO chair TRX straps a bosu ball a,resistance ring and bands a foam roller,a yoga block a workout mat and a for,beginners or anyone looking to rehab an,injury levels 2 and 2.5 are more,challenging and difficulty and Tempo and,this is where youll start to really,build your strength from there specialty,classes exist like restore which is,great for Recovery or cardio sculpt,which pushes the intensity and calorie,burn to the next level,theres something for everyone here and,the leveling system really prevents you,from getting in over your head burning,out or potentially getting injured in,general if youve never taken Pilates,before some people find it similar to,yoga but with some key differences,theres huge emphasis in Pilates on core,strength and stability and while Pilates,can be done on a mat only using the,reformer will challenge your muscles in,ways you could never imagine,how much does Club Pilates cost like,most good workout Studios most Club,Pilates locations will allow you to take,a free class before signing up for a,membership,following that first free trial class,Club Pilates offers several membership,options the more classes you purchase at,once the better deal youll get on,average a pack of eight classes per,month will run roughly 150 dollars per,month and the unlimited package will,cost about 250 dollars per month,depending on location expect a single,drop-in class to cost around 25 to 35,dollars Club Pilates isnt cheap with,just one or two classes costing more,than a month at most commercial gyms but,the high-end classes compare nicely to,what youd pay at most group fitness,Studios downsides to Club Pilates,theres a lot to love about this pilates,studio from the Fantastic classic,programming to the friendly staff and,instructors but it wont be the right,fit for everyone for starters some,outdated stereotypes about Pilates still,exist though no fault of Club Pilates,themselves that means some men might,feel a little out of place in classes,mostly geared toward women,some members have suggested adding guys,nights or other types of classes of,course the relative lack of men at the,studio also helps make Club Pilates a,safe and welcoming environment for women,looking to work out in peace next most,Club Pilates locations dont offer much,in terms of amenities if you like to,shower off after class or relax in a hot,tub or sauna you wont find that here,you might be better off taking pilates,at a commercial gym if thats the case,and finally Club Pilates is pretty,expensive its not much worse than,taking classes at an orange theory or,yoga studio but if youre just looking,for a good workout a gym membership that,includes group classes is a much better,deal people of all Fitness levels and,backgrounds can benefit from adding,Pilates into their routine even hardcore,bodybuilders and athletes love and are,surprised by the challenge of this core,centered workout members of Club Pilates,Rave about the staff the facilities and,the class structure not to mention how,great they feel from the extra [Music],hey yall good morning,um,welcome back to my channel,im getting ready to go to pilates let,me stop walking around im getting ready,to go to pilates,um,i dont have much to say,im about to,finish washing my face,make me a quick little breakfast,i might just eat something small i dont,even know if im gonna,go ham with the breakfast and then,im gonna head out so,im taking yall with me,lets see how the class goes,[Music],[Music],[Music],give it to you baby,[Music],me,[Music],[Music],all right yall,i want to,come on here and let you know how,pilates went,im not going to give you the whole,rundown right now because im in the,parking lot im like in the front,of like a whole bunch of stores and i,dont want nobody to see me so im going,to keep it cute pilates was good today,was my first full pilates class i did,take an intro class like two weeks ago,um and i signed up then,ill give you more details when i get,home because i got the pamphlet at home,so i can give you like the rundown of,everything but it did go well,um,um,not sure about this location,i might have to figure out,something,i have some reasons why i dont really,care for this location but the,instructor is really nice i had the same,instructor that i had for the intro,class sees people walking around looking,at me,but yeah i have the same instructor that,i have for the intro class shes super,nice super helpful really gives you like,good guidance on posture and just you,know how the stretches are supposed to,feel,and it was really good class i do enjoy,her maybe i should try to come at,different times i just like doing it on,sundays i just like,sundays pilates and sundays just go,together you know i dont know,what other day would feel right to come,to pilates but on a sunday but anyways i,might try to do another day or whatever,i dont know im about to go home i need,to get something to eat i dont know if,i should get some food or if i should,just cook at home,i probably should cook at home save,money and not waste my groceries that i,bought yesterday actually i do need to,go grocery shopping so thats what well,do,thats what well do then i have to pee,i dont want to go in none of these,stores is it too much if i go home to,pee and then go back out,maybe ill do that so i can tell yall,about pilates,and then ill cook my food go grocery,shopping,thats what were gonna do all right,ill see yall when i get home,all right yall i am back we back we,back its late its late,were back,my hairs sticking up,okay but like i was saying earlier,pilates was good my hair held up really,well,its just,like the curls in this hair is really,nice,but this hair gets so,okay,itd be nappy and dry,it looks to look good though i might wet,it a little bit and refresh it i dont,put nothing else in it i already feel,like i need to wash it,okay anyways pilates went good i did a,let me get the right name for it the,center and balance class and i believe,it was a 1.5 so theres levels so,theres different classes and theres,different levels of classes so theres,one 1.5,2 and 2.5 so 2.5 being the you know most,strenuous and difficult class,so i did a center and balance class,and it was more so focused on,flexibility,um,and i opted for that class because,i dont think i necessarily like i dont,have trouble like weightlifting,and doing cardio but i am not flexible,at all whatsoever and i just felt like,if i was going to do pilates i will want,more so want to focus on,increasing my flexibility im probably,going to try the other classes just to,see whats popping but,for my first class i didnt want to try,the,um center and balance class and it was,pretty good it was pretty good,i will say i dont know if i really like,the location,that im going to or that i signed up to,i just wish it had a little more,diversity,so i did an intro class first before i,decided to sign up so the intro class is,only 30 minutes but the regular classes,are hour long,so my first class she knows uh,overall was still a good class okay so,the place i go is club pilates i believe,like my first class again was 30 minutes,and it was a sample of the flow class,its called reformer flow i think that,one provided like a mix of like the,classes that they offer and the center,balance is more so just focused on,flexibility i dont think you get to,choose what type of intro class you want,i think its just whatever they give you,i did enjoy the intro class but i think,that,it wasnt long enough,for you to get the full experience of,pilates,so it was a nice little introductory,like oh you can get introduced to all of,the equipment,used in pilates but you dont actually,get the time to do it all so if i had to,make a recommendation i would recommend,that they still do an hour intro class,instead of just doing 30 minutes because,30 minutes is not long enough so the,cost um,i believe the cheapest class or the,cheapest membership,is 110,and that comes with four classes a month,then the next up was eight classes a,month for i think it was like,150 and then there was an unlimited,package,for like 200 and then there was the,the passport membership which allows you,to basically go to different locations,and that one was like 250 so or 249. i,opted for the four class,four classes a month because i just,wanted to get a feel,for,you know how i would like pilates if i,would even like it is this something i,could see myself doing long term i might,think its like a 30 day,or its either 30 days or 90 days you,have to like stick with it i decided to,sign up right then there because they,waive the,they waived the,50,enrollment fee but i would recommend,that if you are like serious about,pilates dont take your intro course,until youre ready to do it so that way,you could just have your fifty dollars,waived it might even be sixty dollars,honestly so,pilates was cool my instructor was,really nice and she just make sure that,you know youre doing all of the poses,correctly,and making sure that youre feeling what,youre supposed to be feeling and she,asks you what areas youre trying to,work on if you have any injuries and,stuff like that she really works with,you so i did enjoy that about the class,so yeah,thats how the pilates went,so im about to just finish detangling,my hair and then were going to cook,and go to wiggles so this is the,pamphlet i was talking about but it,basically just goes through what pilates,is the type of classes and levels,and then it just tells you you know the,benefits of joining pilates on the back,it has the membership options so i dont,have the prices but yeah and then this,is the free intro course class,[Music],seriously,[Music],is,[Music],me,[Music],sorry yall i am a terrible vlogger,blogger whatever,i forgot to um,i forgot to one record when i got back,to show,everything that i got and three show me,putting away the stuff but its really,not important so basically i just want,to come on Fitness Journey Update #2 | ORANGE THEORY | KYLE STROMAN | CLUB PILATES

hey guys welcome back to the Kate show,Im Kate and this is my show today marks,the two months anniversary of my fitness,journey and its crazy like how has it,already been two months,this whole year is flown by so it really,shouldnt be that surprised but for,those of you who dont know I decided to,take the step about two months ago to,just kind of wanting to better my,fitness level and Im pretty much the,like least athletic person on this,planet so this is definitely a really,really big scary step for me and I am,really proud of myself so far so what am,i doing you got that so you guys are,here for what do I love what do I not,like what am i struggling with what have,I you know what are my plans so the,first thing I did was sign up for,Orangetheory I mentioned in my first,video which I will link in the,description below that I signed up for,Orangetheory with my friend Timna now I,signed up because I did the class and I,could just make it through and I was,like I didnt hate it which is like,basically unheard of every other fitness,class Ive taken Ive been like oh no,like see and ever thanks thanks for the,free class so with Orangetheory I do,have one really really big regret and,that would be not signing up for,unlimited classes which I have the,middle tier so you can sign up for four,classes eight classes or the monthly,unlimited rate and I just decided to go,with eight classes I was like oh Ill,just do it like you know like twice a,month or whatever well what I didnt,realize was that I had an even bigger,social circle that goes to all the,orange theory around theories around me,then I even imagined I have a former,coworker who goes I have a friend from,high school that goes I have my best,friend from college who goes and you,know we all kind of go to different,studios people are always like hey let,me know when youre going to a workout,Ill go with you and its really,encouraging and I love that I have that,support especially from my dear friend,Maggie who goes twice a week with me and,is always like I get out of bed some,mornings and I just dont want to go but,I know in my mind Im like are,Maggies going I have to go I cant let,her down that type of thing and you,never regret a workout like ever you may,be hurtin but you never regret it so,anyways I love Orangetheory the way,Orangetheory works is that you have,three different stations you row you get,on the treadmill and you do the floor,which could be weights,it could be bands it could be gosh what,else we do everything the instructor,always demonstrates it for you and they,have little TVs up at the top of the,room that you can see a video people,like doing the exercise because if you,tell me to do like a double hinge,blah-blah-blah-blah,you might as well be speaking another,language because I have no idea what,youre talking about so you can find me,in class like kind of peek in watching,the watching the little guy do the,exercises so I know what Im doing – um,today was actually a really really big,day for me I know this sounds kind of,silly but Ive learned or what Im,learning that I should say throughout,this journey is to celebrate small wins,and successes you know Im not gonna go,into this thinking like wow I want to,lose you know fifty pounds and I want to,do this and I want to do that because,that would be great but like lets take,baby steps first,so my first major like PR was today I,didnt hold on to the treadmill during,the entire time that I worked out which,I am a cereal like holding on for dear,life like dont even tell me to let go,like Im just gonna hold on and its,such a mental thing and I was able to do,it I think like eighty-nine percent of,one class but I was like really,distracted in my head which just wasnt,in the right place for that so I I,counted today is the first day where I,was like Im gonna do this Im just,really gonna crush it and so at the end,of the class and Ill insert the picture,here I went up to be like think hes the,GM of my Orangetheory and I was like I,know this is silly but can I get a,picture with the brac board because Im,like really proud of myself,so I am a Power Walker in class which,lets build that booty I hate running,and maybe someday I will get to the,point where I jog because you can do any,of those three on the treadmill walk,power walk Im sorry power walk,or run Ive read a lot of like,Orangetheory forms and threads on reddit,and all of that and people say like,dont kill yourself to run like if,youre gonna hate working out because,you have to run then be a power walker,work those ink lines youre working just,as hard it is not shameful or any less,if you are a power Walker over a jogger,or a jogger over a runner like,everyones journey is different so,thats why Im at with Orangetheory I,have to say with the scheduling,its been tough man the first month I,definitely overdid it I think I took I,took a ridiculous amount of classes,because I got so excited about it in,every class over your allocated number,that you get for your membership is like,$18 so that adds up relatively quickly,this month has just been nuts for me and,I actually looked at my app because you,booked everything through the app the,app is great you can see how Annie blur,on the wait list you can post your stats,which I love to do on my Instagram if,youre not following me at into Indy,make sure to find me on Instagram I,always trust my stats all of that but I,looked at it today and I was like oh my,gosh I have three days left on my cycle,and Ive three classes left so I guess,Im just gonna knock them all out in,three days so I did one today and Ill,have one tomorrow morning as well as the,next day so then on to my personal,trainer which I am so incredibly lucky,and this has got to be my favorite way,to work out is with my trainer so I do,work out with Kyle Stroman he is a,trainer on the north side of Indy he,does everything from training kids for,football for rugby people like me people,who are way more fit than me he does it,all and he is so incredibly,knowledgeable that I will come in and,Ill be like he always asked me like how,you feeling is anything bothering you,and I you know Im learning more about,my body because Ive never put my body,to this test before I have never been,this physically active or whatever you,want to call it and Im also on the,verge of 30 so things hurt that have,never heard before and you know I,learned that hey like he recommended,strapped for my knee cuz I have,something youll have to ask him Ill,have to put him on camera because I,dont know what my patella does but it,moves and its uncomfortable I went out,and bought that and it has been totally,life-changing working out and if Im,working out something bothers me he will,be like alright were changing it up,were gonna do this instead so I love,that I have that guidance and it,definitely makes me more confident and,he really pushes me I mean he he,definitely like Ill tell him like hey,dont let me sit down and hell be like,alright remember what you told me get up,lets go you know but without without,being like mean or a jerk about it or,whatever and its just so cool to see,hes married to my best friend from,college and its so cool to see when,someone is so passionate about what they,do like to see that really shine through,and the way he talks about different,muscles and hey were gonna do this,today and it just blows my mind because,Im like youre like a genius at this,and I just you know I feel so lucky to,get to work out with him so I work out,with him twice a week I love it Im,thinking about doing a like meet my,trainer see what I do in a workout video,for my next fitness update so let me,know if you guys want to see that and,then finally my this kind of came about,surprised I wasnt expecting it but I am,partnering with Club Pilates so I will,be working out at their studios for,three months and its been its been,really crazy Pilates Teacher Pay, Rates and Salary

hey i thought i would make another video,actually someone requested it and that,was to talk a little bit about,salaries and how we are paid as pilates,teachers,so um im going to try to be pretty,brief,in this one i do have a ton of thoughts,but i think i can be,fast in what i say so the first thing to,know about me,is i actually have my own business i run,my own studio,so i get to manage money all on my own,um part of why i decided to do that,though,um not part of why the reason why was,because i was having a really hard time,finding a studio set up that i thought,made,financial sense um the first thing that,i would recommend,to anyone who is just starting out as a,pilates teacher or who is considering,to do a pilates teacher training program,is to meet with a financial advisor like,your accountant or where,however it works wherever you live and,sit down,and figure out how much money you need,to be making an hour,like for real thats what i did,um and that was vital,now when youre calculating how much,money you need to be making an hour,what you also need to take into account,is um first of all whats realistic,from what youve observed in studios are,you looking at a studio where you need,to build up your,clientele as private clients is it a,studio that does group classes,is the studio that does group classes,paying differently because of,lockdown or covet or whatever it is um,and then also taking account things like,travel time,break time all of those kinds of things,but get really really clear on first of,all how much money do you need to be,making annually or monthly,um and then what does that look like,hourly,for what youre expecting from there,this is not like a perfect number but,its going to give you at least a base,point to go out and start looking at,whats available to you and start,negotiating or having real honest,conversations,with studios and yourself your friends,and family about what it is that youd,like to be doing,so the person that asked me to do this,video was saying well,you know what how much should we get,paid do you get paid like 30 bucks an,hour,like whats that mean um so for context,i mean i dont live in the united states,um so thats one thing,30 bucks is not what i would be paid,here typically although i have seen,studios offer those kinds of rates,which is way too low,um but when youre looking,and talking to a studio thats like,offering those kinds of rates and pro,head rates theres,a couple other things to keep in mind um,the first thing,number one is the studio gonna be be,paying you for,pre-class time um as in the time that,you have to show up at the studio,beforehand to,set up clean the machines you know,whatever it is you need to do,turn on the lights turn on music however,does that studio functions are you paid,for that time,are you paid for time between classes,um with that is there a break between,classes like a significant break between,classes significant break to me is,anything beyond 10 minutes,um and then the last thing,is are they paying you on top of that,base,30 an hour or whatever it is are they,paying you per head,now the issue of being paid per head is,obviously only relevant if were talking,about group classes,but its really vital when you think,about that,um to think about the likelihood it is,of you actually filling those classes,now ive seen it done very often that,studios offer to pay,per head as a kind of an incentive to,you that if your classes are great or,youre really active on social media,that then youre gonna be able to fill,those classes no problem,um theres a couple issues going into,that that i,observe at least um number one,lets talk about marketing a lot of,studios say well you just need to,promote yourself,more the way i see it that is not your,responsibility as an employee,in any studio to promote yourself on,social media,thats the responsibility of your,employer,the studio to invest the time and the,money to do that,now if the studio is going to pay you,lets say they pay you to do,an hour of your own social media every,week you know thats a different story,and you can think about that i mean you,can do whatever you want youre an adult,but you might think like okay this this,makes sense for me,um so thats the first issue are you,actually getting paid to promote,yourself because,promoting yourself is a ton of work and,it takes a lot of time,um the second thing to think about as,well is not all class times are created,equal,um this is an issue that ive,definitely butted heads with um with,studio owners and um,yeah well thats that is what it is,but for me ive seen a significant,difference in the ease of filling a,class at lets say,7 30 at night versus at four oclock in,the afternoon for example,so you might be a fantastic teacher who,does an amazing job,but youre allotted a time that just is,tricky to fill,you know if youre talking about a,lunchtime class,those classes can be a little bit harder,if its like,december and people are really slammed,at work wrapping up for the year,it has nothing to do with your abilities,to teach or your qualities to teach or,even what the customer thinks of you,it just has to do with the time the,other thing,um i will say on that is that theres,also the challenge,and this is where i would love to see,more unity within,the pilates world of the preconceived,notions that people,have about what their workout should,look like,and how they judge,a teacher based off of those,preconceived notions,so for example you might be a teacher,whos really,really focused on individual attention,and safety,and making sure that your clients,understand um,what it is that theyre doing and why,youre not someone whos gonna go in and,just give people,a hard workout because thats what they,think that they want and need,you might be like you know what thats,not what i stand for im gonna make sure,they get it,now depending on the studio environment,people might go in and say,well that persons not delivering what i,want so im not going to show up for,their class,because its not a kick in the ass,essentially,that is the other major issue i see with,paying,per head the other issue with that to,kind of build on top of that,is also issues of subconscious bias,or very conscious bias that people have,so what happens for example when an,individual doesnt,quote unquote look the role of a pilates,teacher,um i know people personally whove,experienced this theyve been fat shamed,not just um or by their by their,clients by their customers directly and,having gotten support from their studio,or their co-workers,that thats not okay the issue with that,is that then impacts those people,twofold,because it obviously is going to impact,their emotional and psychological,health well not obviously but for many,people it will,um and the other thing is it impacts,their paycheck and thats a huge deal,thats really really important,so those are kind of the the three,things i would say are problematic,about getting paid per head so again,thats,the issues of bias that people have,towards teachers and how that might be,impacting not just yourself but the,studio and the industry at large,um the issue that not all class times,are created equal,and there was one more thing and im,forgetting what it was and,im sure you guys are smart people and,can remember so,the next thing you might be thinking is,like okay well this sounds all really,tricky,and hard and confusing maybe ill just,go independent,um if you decide that you want to go,independent,cool good for you thats also why i,would suggest you talk to someone,um about your finances beforehand so you,understand,what your minimum hourly needs to be,and then you need to be really clear,with how much time it is you want to,invest and how much leeway you want to,give between,hours what i see happen very often is,people when theyre starting out,is they try to price low because they,feel,self-conscious that they need to um,and then they get into a situation where,they realiz

if youve ever taken a pilates class you,might be under the impression that it,wont be that challenging of a workout,but youd be completely wrong created by,Joseph Pilates a German bodybuilder and,gymnast Pilates began as a series of,core and postural exercises for soldiers,without access to much equipment since,then numerous professional athletes have,Incorporated Pilates into their workout,routines and Studios have popped up all,over the world one of the most popular,places to practice is Club Pilates these,classes are easy to find but is the,studio any good lets find out with a,full review what to know before your,first Club pilates class,all youll need to work out at Club,Pilates is a water bottle comfy workout,clothes and a pair of grippy socks,walking into Club Pilates one of the,first things youll notice is that while,it is a group class the setting is still,intimate with only a dozen workout,stations or so after being greeted and,checked in by one of the front desk,Representatives who are notoriously,friendly and seem to know all of the,members by their first name youll drop,your belongings in one of the provided,Cubbies and fill up your water before,heading into class most locations dont,offer amenities like showers or changing,rooms so its best to come dressed and,ready to go of course if youre lucky,youll be taking a class during a theme,day or holiday in which case youll be,encouraged to arrive in full costume,whats a club pilates class really like,along with the reformer machine which is,a specialized strength and hey there today I want to give you five,reasons why club pilates may be the,answer youre looking for in your,fitness routine and 5 things to know,before you go before we get going I want,you to know that this is just me,providing my experience to you this is,not paid content this is not sponsored,Im getting nothing in return theres,not affiliate none of that business my,mission at Grace Health is to equip you,to find Grace and balance in your own,health by providing resources in the,kitchen in the gym and in the word,todays focus is in the gym lets jump,into why club Pilates may be right for,you the first reason is everything there,is low-impact as we get older and even,before we get older we want to protect,our joints and we want to strengthen,them but sometimes really hard on our,joints everything at Club Pilates is,low-impact and in fact in the reformer,classes often times youre doing,everything lying on your back or is it,laying Im not really ever sure but,youre on your back while youre doing,that and so thats a really great,opportunity to move your muscles without,being too hard on them the second reason,is club Pilates offers very unique,equipment Ive been in the fitness,industry 14 years I recognize that,equipment costs money as a personal,trainer I think about every single,dollar that I invest to help my clients,so I recognize this when I walk into,club Pilates I look around and I think,they have really invested in their,clients the reformer offers you a unique,way to move with the equipment theres,also chairs that dont look like a chair,to me but thats what they call it so,Im gonna call it that theres BOSU,balls theres TRX straps theres these,little circular things that you can put,between your legs and theyre like,little torture devices for your,adductors and so the equipment there is,oftentimes and particularly with the,chairs and the Reformers its hard to,replicate,at home thats one of the things that I,really like about club Pilates is I go,there and Im actually using machines,that I cant do on my own I cant take,those same movements and come home and,do them because its very unique to the,machines and so that is a that is a,benefit to it which leads me to the,third one you will exercise muscles you,did not even know you had I have to,admit I walked in my first time or two,and I thought well I do burpees and I,can do v-ups and I do planks and I do,all of these things Im gonna be fine,and it wasnt long between my you know,my legs were up I cant get him up this,high but just pretend they were up in,that V position and just tremoring,tremoring shaking shaking shaking,because I was utilizing through their,instruction muscles that I hadnt used,altogether even though I do try and do,that it still was its really hard for,me to be able to do that on my own with,the equipment that I have we have 35,muscles in our core musculature and your,core is really from your hips up to your,shoulders and everything around,sometimes we think core is just our,rectus abdominus its not theres so,much more to that using the equipment,and taking advantage of that equipment,allows us to engage a lot of those,muscles in different ways all at the,same time so its definitely a unique,experience number four if you are over,40 oh like me this may be a great,resource for you again you know our hips,start to deteriorate our knees start to,complain our shoulders I mean I teach,fitness classes I can ask every single,one of my girls to point to their issue,and theyre all pointing weve all got,something Club Pilates because its,low-impact because its on unique,equipment gives you that option of,movement without being so hard on your,joints so if you are new to fitness,maybe your deconditioned and maybe your,body is just not ready for burpees or,running or mountain climbers or,kettlebell swings this is a great place,to start,because it is safe on your joints and in,fact when I was taking pictures and,videos to share with you on this I,started talking to the manager of my,local club Pilates and I started talking,I said well what I got to get this on,recorder so Im gonna actually play that,here in just a second because I want you,to hear the conversation and just her,professional experience and what she,does and she recognizes too that the,over-40 has a need that is met at Club,Pilates doesnt mean you cant come if,youre if youre not 40 I see I have a,son whos a freshman in high school I,see some girls his age there yes by the,way there are men there so men youre,welcome to come and and I see people you,know up into their 70s but if you are,looking for a place because of your age,to find a new fitness routine this might,be a really great place to do it and,then finally number five if youve had,an injury this is a great place or if,you want to prehab if you want to,prevent injury this is a great place to,do that because were focusing on that,core musculature because were focusing,on our hips are smaller glute muscles,are our abdomen our lats our obliques,strengthening those are going to help,prevent injury and if you are injured,thats going to help in your recovery,process so take a look at this quick,interview I had with Nicolette our,manager at my local club Pilates and,then Im gonna come back and tell you,five things you need to know before you,go,at this club or in general with Pilates,yeah so Id say like between the two,locations that we have in this area and,I would see it all over I mean,age varies but really the majority would,be 45 to 50 and more do you think of,those so Id say that you know as we get,older but as much impact on our bodies,just because of things that were going,through like menopause things like that,bones become less dead so this helps,increase bone density you know and it,just,so much stress on our body so its,low-impact and its super effective you,know as we get older we are in more,gears of creating bad habits and,grounding shoulders things like that so,all of those years of improper form and,God have it to catch up and this just,really lengthens us and helps kind of,undo all of those,we created over the time of you know not,having before,well I love what you say about the bad,habits because three years I did,push-ups like this yeah and so my I now,have that cross body and I have been,really working on opening up and,stretching it up and doing all the,things but thats not easily reversible,in three months like you,so the key is to do yeah some of the,things that I love about tulip qualities,is the mind-body connection and the,awareness of what youre doing and its,not just about banging something out,like sometimes we see in the gym its,banging out the burpees and I love,burpees but but its being aware all of,those things what do you think is that,most what do you think is the favorite,class here this location so our most,popular class I have to say is a cardio,sculpt,because again its a very low impact way,of doing cardio plyometric movement they,need to really elevate that heart rate,and it hit style of training without,putting impact on to it I love it I,absolutely its my favorite classic oh,yeah its a lot of fun yeah its you get,this money yes I made the mistake once,of showering before it came like youre,not sweating that you cant walk down,the stairs its like that that internal,really fatigue but you dont do a little,lot of sweat yeah that one,gets you if someone were new to club,Pilates what would you recommend that,they do so I recommend that they try our,intro boss just to feel it out and make,sure that it would need good fit for,that but I would recommend the level one,just because it is so different so I,would recommend that but its really,would vary depending on their goals what,theyre currently doing their background,a lot of yeah okay,are you convinced yet I hope so before,you go I want you to know these five,things one you will need grippy [Music],hey yall good morning,um,welcome back to my channel,im getting ready to go to pilates let,me stop walking around im getting ready,to go to pilates,um,i dont have much to say,im about to,finish washing my face,make me a quick little breakfast,i might just eat something small i dont,even know if im gonna,go ham with the breakfast and then,im gonna head out so,im taking yall with me,lets see whole,rundown right now because im in the,parking lot im like in the front,of like a whole bunch of stores and i,dont want nobody to see me so im going,to keep it cute pilates was good today,was my first full pilates class i did,take an intro class like two weeks ago,um and i signed up then,ill give you more details when i get,home because i got the pamphlet at home,so i can give you like the rundown of,everything but it did go well,um,um,not sure about this location,i might have to figure out,something,i have some reasons why i dont really,care for this location but the,instructor is really nice i had the same,instructor that i had for the intro,class sees people walking around looking,at me,but yeah i have the same instructor that,i have for the intro class shes super,nice super helpful really gives you like,good guidance on posture and just you,know how the stretches are supposed to,feel,and it was really good class i do enjoy,her maybe i should try to come at,different times i just like doing it on,sundays i just like,sundays pilates and sundays just go,together you know i dont know,what other day would feel right to come,to pilates but on a sunday but anyways i,might try to do another day or whatever,i dont know im about to go home i need,to get something to eat i dont know if,i should get some food or if i should,just cook at home,i probably should cook at home save,money and not waste my groceries that i,bought yesterday actually i do need to,go grocery shopping so thats what well,do,thats what well do then i have to pee,i dont want to go in none of these,stores is it too much if i go home to,pee and then go back out,maybe ill do that so i can tell yall,about pilates,and then ill cook my food go grocery,shopping,thats what were gonna do all right,ill see yall when i get home,all right yall i am back we back we,back its late its late,were back,my hairs sticking up,okay but like i was saying earlier,pilates was good my hair held up really,well,its just,like the curls in this hair is really,nice,but this hair gets so,okay,itd be nappy and dry,it looks to look good though i might wet,it a little bit and refresh it i dont,put nothing else in it i already feel,like i need to wash it,okay anyways pilates went good i did a,let me get the right name for it the,center and balance class and i believe,it was a 1.5 so theres levels so,theres different classes and theres,different levels of classes so theres,one 1.5,2 and 2.5 so 2.5 being the you know most,strenuous and difficult class,so i did a center and balance class,and it was more so focused on,flexibility,um,and i opted for that class because,i dont think i necessarily like i dont,have trouble like weightlifting,and doing cardio but i am not flexible,at all whatsoever and i just felt like,if i was going to do pilates i will want,more so want to focus on,increasing my flexibility im probably,going to try the other classes just to,see whats popping but,for my first class i didnt want to try,the,um center and balance class and it was,pretty good it was pretty good,i will say i dont know if i really like,the location,that im going to or that i signed up to,i just wish it had a little more,diversity,so i did an intro class first before i,decided to sign up so the intro class is,only 30 minutes but the regular classes,are hour long,so my first class she knows uh,overall was still a good class okay so,the place i go is club pilates i believe,like my first class again was 30 minutes,and it was a sample of the flow class,its called reformer flow i think that,one provided like a mix of like the,classes that they offer and the center,balance is more so just focused on,flexibility i dont think you get to,choose what type of intro class you want,i think its just whatever they give you,i did enjoy the intro class but i think,that,it wasnt long enough,for you to get the full experience of,pilates,so it was a nice little introductory,like oh you can get introduced to all of,the equipment,used in pilates but you dont actually,get the time to do it all so if i had to,make a recommendation i would recommend,that they still do an hour intro class,instead of just doing 30 minutes because,30 minutes is not long enough so the,cost um,i believe the cheapest class or the,cheapest membership,is 110,and that comes with four classes a month,then the next up was eight classes a,month for i think it was like,150 and then there was an unlimited,package,for like 200 and then there was the,the passport membership which allows you,to basically go to different locations,and that one was like 250 so or 249. i,opted for the four class,four classes a month because i just,wanted to get a feel,for,you know how i would like pilates if i,would even like it is this something i,could see myself doing long term i might,think its like a 30 day,or its either 30 days or 90 days you,have to like stick with it i decided to,sign up right then there because they,waive the,they waived the,50,enrollment fee but i would recommend,that if you are like serious about,pilates dont take your intro course,until youre ready to do it so that way,you could just have your fifty dollars,waived it might even be sixty dollars,honestly so,pilates was cool my instructor was,really nice and she just make sure that,you know youre doing all of the poses,correctly,and making sure that youre feeling what,youre supposed to be feeling and she,asks you what areas youre trying to,work on if you have any injuries and,stuff like that she really works with,you so i did enjoy that about the class,so yeah,thats how the pilates went,so im about to just finish detangling,my hair and then were going to cook,and go to wiggles so this is the,pamphlet i was talking about but it,basically just goes through what pilates,is the type of classes and levels,and then it just tells you you know the,benefits of joining pilates on the back,it has the membership options so i dont,have the prices but yeah and then this,is the free intro course class,[Music],seriously,[Music],is,[Music],me,[Music],sorry yall i am a terrible vlogger,blogger whatever,i forgot to um,i forgot to one record when i got back,to show,everything that i got and three show me,putting away the stuff but its really,not important so basically i just want,to come on alright next you guys are going to go,into the 100 so go ahead and lift your,legs in tabletop stabilize your lower,back and we could be imprinted or,neutral take the arms up straight palms,face towards each other take a deep,inhale exhale reach the arms down chest,lift up your head neck and shoulders,eyes gazing towards your upper inner,thigh little pumps breathe in for five,pumps your collar bones wide breathe out,four five the abdominal belt pulls and,tight,good as were breathing here pay,attention to your lower back it can,either be gently imprinted pressing down,into the carriage or neutral but it,needs to stay stable let your head or,neck go down at any time if you need to,and with your head down youll feel it,much deeper into those lower abdominals,option to reach those legs out to 45,degrees for more of a challenge breathe,in for five pumps pump from those back,muscles around your bra and armpit and,then breathe out for five pulling the,abdominals in and up good and that,pelvic floor in and up were going to,keep our dumbbells bringing the knees,into the chest take your outside hand to,the ankle other hand to the inner knee,and we go right into single leg stretch,breathe in for two and then breathe out,inhale switch switch exhale switch,switch breathe in and then breathe out,resting your neck if youd like to be,more advanced with those lower abs bring,both knees into the chest hands by the,ankles double leg stretch arms up legs,shoot out keep the shoulders anchored,and then navel to the spine open circle,sweep and pull inhale stretch exhale,open and circle keep your head neck,shoulders lifted the whole times our,head is not bobbing during this movement,breathe and stretch your eyes gaze,towards that mid thigh region throughout,the movement,exhale open and circle breathe out,alright so next lets go into our spinal,bridge work so anchor those shoulder,blades down take a deep inhale and then,exhale tuck and peel your spine up,slowly vertebrae by vertebrae curling up,through that spine hold here squeeze,your blue ball take a deep breath in and,then as you breathe out melt your spinal,column down vertebra by vertebra closing,the ribs pull and lift up on that pelvic,floor,we glide those shoulder blades down,breathe in your spine is lengthening out,in opposition and exhale slowly curl,back up lets stay lifted here now,curled up to just about the bra line,area not onto our neck lets start,squeezing that blue ball little pulses,use your breath as you squeeze with your,inner thighs also squeeze your bladder,control muscle using that breath,pressing even weight into your left and,right foot good next were going to,squeeze the ball and tuck the tush so,squeeze and tuck good use your breath a,little bit of coordination you can also,tuck and squeeze if youd like navel,scoops in tight use your breath pelvic,floor lifts up stay lift to take another,deep inhale and then as you breathe out,melt your spine down vertebrae by,vertebrae drawing that abdominal belt in,tight next were going into our side,line glute series so our hips are,stacked and stable with our one blue,spring your leg is in front reach,through the heel and then pull and reach,the leg back breathe in as your straight,leg goes forward the foots right in,alignment with the front of your hip,bone exhale pull and reach that straight,leg back keeping that foot down in the,frame of the body using your breath an,option here to take that top hand to the,top hip to make sure that your hips are,stacked and stable so our pelvis is,neutral and solid and at that straight,leg goes forward the torso remains quiet,and still and then pull and reach with,that straight leg as it draws back good,keep your waist nice and lengthened on,the top and the bottom,breathe in as that straight leg goes,forward your hips are stacked and stable,exhale pull and reach that straight leg,back feel that top shoulder blade anchor,down away from the top here engaging all,those back muscles around your armpit in,Brawl area alright next were going into,a modified snake here so roll the,shoulders back take a deep breath in as,you breathe out let the chin roll into,the chest slowly dive down taking both,hands onto your carriage from here were,going to use our breath breathing,naturally press the carriage out come,down into a plank position pause and,hold anchoring those shoulders and then,pull it all the way back into a downward,facing dog,drawing that carriage back into the,stopper using your breath and abs press,out anchor the shoulders pause for your,picture to be taken and then pike and,pull all the way back into your downward,dog position facing towards the,courtyard standing on the box carefully,take your foot first on this to the,wooden standing platform and then the,other foot on to the carriage,our arms are going to go out to the side,slight turnout in your feet were going,to press the carriage out come into a,deep leg pin and just pause and hold,here anchor the shoulders making sure,that your pelvis is stacked directly,underneath your rib cage from here,nothing moves except for that foot on,the carriage going out in an inch here,use your breath good shoulder blades are,incurred abdominal belt pulls in really,connect to that standing leg in your,pelvic floor as you draw in and up on,your abdominal belt good lets hold down,low here and little bounces at the knees,down and up pulsing squeeze into those,glutes draw the navel and deeper towards,your spine let those shoulder blades,reinker down away from those ears good,we hold down nothing moves in the,carriage little pelvic tucks use your,breath naval scoops and tight shoulders,are anchored good pull the carriage all,the way into the stopper and then let,the arms rest alongside your body,alright next you guys were going to go,right into some pikes on the chair so,everyones standing on the ball of their,foot on the chair go ahead from here and,anchor those shoulder blades down take a,deep inhale exhale use your abs Pike and,lift up let that chin roll into the,chest as your head comes into alignment,with that spine come down just halfway,pretend the ground is hot lava,and then exhale Pike in lift gliding,those shoulders down away from those,ears nice down about halfway breathe in,exhale navel to the spine create length,in the back of your neck as you lift,good your abdominal belt is pulling in,and up so really imagine that navel to,the spine connection as you lift your,hips as high as possible lowering down,halfway,breathe and exhale lift the hips up nice,and high for our full body pike movement,last one come all the way down carefully,step back ease the pedal off and then,were going to turn our chairs sideways,and come right into a prone extension,hold facing the center so turn your pair,your chair to the side and youre going,to lie with your pubic bone and sternum,supported reach your hands backwards,eyes gaze down as you reach and lengthen,up to a nice prone extension hold so a,modified version of swimming thats kind,of like a prep move for there we want,the back of the neck long eyes are,gazing down slightly tuck your pubic,bone into the chairs you pull in and up,on those ABS were going to hold for,about fifteen more seconds using the,breath so next youre going to go into,some really fun helicopters here so,lets first take our hands to our pelvis,and monitor that those two hip bones and,pubic bone are on the same plane lets,maintain that neutral here as we scissor,to two times scissor one scissor two,exhale circle the legs around and pause,inhale one two exhale shhh inhale one,two exhale helicopter around and pause,nice stable pelvis rooting your pelvis,and tailbone down into that mat last one,breathe in one two exhale circle around,and pause reach your legs up straight,grab on to those Springs and pull those,elbows down reaching the heels up,towards the ceiling and your sits bones,down What to Expect in a Pilates Class| Club Pilates| First Pilates Class

[Music],Im on my way to a Pilates class its a,free trial its from Cliff Lee up the,club pilates and Ive never tried this,place so lets see how it goes its 30,minutes instead of 50 which is the,actual class but I mean its my first,time Im not trying to go either but Im,excited hopefully I love it because Ive,been looking for something that I love,to work out so I can see consistent I,went once it was way too far I was like,maybe 30 40 minutes so I just did it,once with a friend but oh my god my,whole body was shaking and I was like oh,my god this is how Im gonna get abs so,been wanting to get up for the longest,time but Im never consistent in the gym,so hello I dont know what I want and,for example I will go to the gym for,like two months Im so good like Im,seeing different oh I wont go one day,Im like okay rest day todays nursing,and then I wont go the next day,oh okay two rest days,it just keeps going until I just fell,off the whole thing and its just very,hard for me to get that I just got it,let me stop talking and lets just go,and see how this goes by yeah Im a few,minutes early but they did say to get,there about ten minutes before so I can,do some people its almost likely thats,what Im gonna do we have to use the,bathroom itself,let me go Im just gonna go ahead and,put my grippy socks Ill go up there,some people work and then you guys will,see me performing hopefully and Im a,little bit bumpy through your nose they,bring the bed in exhale out of your,mouth,shoes take it back get out through the,nose come in exhale out of the mouth,rush back shootin and come in,lets go for two more as you like them,for us and bringing it and Freds long,Bunny and bringing in very nice,everybody everybody come back in bend,your knees were at home base now,whenever we make it foot change we,always do it in the home position if,youre back there and you change your,feet youll see this time when you go,back leave if your thighs pull em,together we keep that belly down take,your ring out get ready,under exhale tighten your belly lighten,it back,[Music],[Applause],[Music],[Applause],[Applause],[Music],[Applause],[Music],[Music],[Music],[Music],[Music],hey guys so I just got the Pilates class,it wasnt all that as far as because all,its only thirty minutes so theres only,so much they can do but I think Im,gonna do it because I really love,Pilates and Ive been looking for a,class that you know or something that,will motivate me to go however I did do,a class at a jet-set studio and I shaked,the whole time also that was a full-on,class so theres a difference but Im,very excited,your new me
