hey there fellow travelers mark here,with walters world and today were in,athens greece with the acropolis hill,and the parthenon behind us this is one,of johnsons favorite places to come in,the world and always a good time for us,with the food and all kinds of stuff and,if you have great museums great,historical sites and great food theres,still things you dont do when you go to,a place and thats why todays video are,the things you dont do when you come to,athens i guess one little dont i have,for you is dont call the building on,the top the acropolis the acropolis is,the hill and going up to the top is the,acropolis up on the top thats the,parthenon thats on top that really cool,structure you always see in pictures,thats what that is okay so thats the,first dont dont dont dont confuse,the two the second dont i have for you,is dont skip going up there a lot of,people think oh with all the tourists up,there in the heat uh is it really worth,it to go up there its just some ruins,look it is a magical experience when you,see the parthenon i know every time i,come to athens when i come the first,time i i turn a corner and i look up and,i see the parthenon on the top of the,acropolis im like oh,its like that really corny tourist,moment its wonderful and dont miss,that experience so yes hike up in the,heat and go with the crowds and go,through there and enjoy going up there,and seeing one of the most magnificent,spots and tourist destinations in the,world okay now i do have a little extra,dont when you are going up to the top,youll see us when you go through youll,see there theres construction on the,front of it and when people come through,for the main entrance they all stop to,take a picture right there it gets,really kind of crowded and people get,frustrated look you can take a few more,steps and go in a little bit farther and,get actually better pictures so dont,worry youll get great pictures of the,acropolis all over the directions but,just know youre gonna get a little,frustrated with all the people stopping,right there so dont stop go a little,bit farther and take some pictures okay,another donut i have here is dont drive,when you come to athens i mean youre,asking for a heart attack every time you,go anywhere so just dont just just,dont take a taxi take an uber take the,metro take the tram take a bus heck take,a group of crazy greeks just dont drive,when you come here its not worth it and,if youre going to be walking around,realize that you may think you have it,right away but dont think you have the,right of way because thats where a lot,of problems a lot of hurt tourists come,through is there are car accidents and,they do nick the tourist im a pretty,good tourist but i almost got hit today,so you really need to be careful so,dont think you have the right of way,make sure youre always paying attention,okay so now were here at the temple of,zeus,well we want to get in the temple of,zeus and thats one of the next donts,we have for you is dont be surprised if,theres like a strike going on when you,are here in athens but its not usually,going to be a big huge strike itll be a,lot of little mini strikes might happen,so for example i want to go to the,temple of zeus right now i cant because,theyre on strike just today from 8,until 11. and the strikes here i mean,they may affect you or they may not but,the thing is theyre usually not in big,durations and stuff like that so it,doesnt hurt tourism so much but it,might just be some little annoyances so,dont be surprised if you have those,little strikes another dont i have for,you going on for that is dont let the,strikes and protests that youve seen on,tv and television kind of keep you from,visiting athens it is a cool city with a,lot of great stuff to see like the,temple of zeus and going up the,acropolis the parthenon the museums and,the food and flakka district and,masadaiki and all these places and a lot,of people get turned off because of the,news about athens honestly ive been,here when theres been some protests and,theyve shown it on cnn and other places,where its like making it look like its,this whole big rubble oh in greece,theres protests we were at the same,square just on the back side of it,getting a coffee and getting a little,donut-like thing here in greece and the,thing is is dont get freaked out about,that but you should pay attention,because there might be a strike on a you,know maybe a taxi line or maybe on the,two or the tram line of the metro line,that might affect you and so if you are,going to be going you know to the,airport and stuff like that you might,want to check into it but we havent had,really too many issues when weve been,here but there are just these little,tiny tiny things like that you might,want to kind of put put in your mind,when you are here okay another thing i,want to tell you is dont worry about,not speaking greek when you come to,athens it seems like everyone does speak,english here so you will be okay,restaurants hotels everything have,things in greek and english so youll be,fine with that so dont worry about that,one another thing i would say is dont,drink the tap water its not necessarily,bad here but i would stick to bottled,water when you are here and youll see,the locals do that and theres tons of,kiosks around that sell it so pick up,some bottles before you go to bed at,night so you have some bottled water,just to cool off because yes you dont,want to mess with the heat when youre,here as well because it gets extremely,hot in the summer so you do want to be,careful so have your hat your sunglasses,your sunblock because it can be pretty,strong another thing you need to know is,when you come to athens youre going to,do a lot of walking so dont forget some,good walking shoes because going up the,acropolis hill walking around the slick,tiles you see behind me it can be a lot,of walking and really tough on your feet,so dont forget those good walking shoes,another donut i have for you when you,come to greece is make sure you dont,wear like shorts and skirts and tank,tops and stuff when you try to go to,churches because some churches wont let,you in some dont care but you might,want to have a heads up with that one,some of the donts i have for you is if,you are going to be going through the,markets and stuff like madison ikea,placa dont feel pressured to buy things,look theres a lot of high pressure,sales people here and towels that try to,get you into restaurants get you into,shops get you to buy stuff you might not,want dont get over pressured by them,because a lot of stores have very,similar things so you might want to try,different prices when you are there and,go look at other different stores so,dont feel that you have to be pressured,into doing stuff so be careful for that,so another dont we have for you when,you are at the markets and stuff like,that is dont forget to bargain look the,price they give you at first you can,bargain that down a lot of places even,has a price tag and stuff like that and,the thing is you can be like ah theyll,tell you look im gonna give you a deal,because youre my friend well you can,even bargain even farther down lower for,that to get even better prices and,another way you can bargain them down,lower is to pay with cash,and i dont i have for you with the cash,kind of thing is dont be surprised if,their credit card machine doesnt work,right now or the system is really busy,because they dont have to pay the,commission if you pay with cash so,youre better just to come with cash if,they give you a deal you say hey and,what if i pay with the cash you can,knock that down even more because dont,be surprised again if that credit card,machine might not work when youre there,when you are here at the acropolis by,the parthenon really be careful dont,mess around because it is you know like,marble floors and marble everywhere and,it is super slick with lots of so hello welcome to the video and,welcome once again to heathrows,terminal 2. I joined the Aegean scheme,as my way to get start Alliance gold a,process I talk about in some detail in,this video up here one of the reasons I,chose a GN is that they make it,relatively easy to re-qualify as gold,so about a month ago I was looking at,the trips that I had planned and seeing,how far they would get me towards,renewal and I would have got pretty,close going the long way around by which,I mean not taking any flights on a GM I,would have been probably 90 to 95 of the,way towards renewal and then I started,to think that might give me a little bit,of a problem Id have about six weeks,after the end of the last trip I have,booked and I might have an annoying,number of points that I needed to gather,to renew the gold so I started to wonder,whether it might make sense to sneak in,a quick trip on a GN to gather the four,flights I need to unlock the shortcut to,re-qualification as luck would have it,literally a day later an email popped up,from Aegean with a 50 offer on flights,to Greece so about an hour later Id,found and booked myself a very,interesting little trip from London to,Athens continuing on to roads which was,costing me 211 pounds never been to Road,and from a little bit of Googling its,like Corfu T I believe and that it is,open year round and so I do have some,hope of finding somewhere to get,something to eat when Im there now when,you get to gold of the gym they send you,four upgrade vouchers which you can use,on flights on their Airline so I rang up,and I asked to be upgraded on the two,legs to and from London the longer legs,of the trip and the Gin doesnt make it,easy to see whether thats worked or not,but I think the flight back up to London,has been upgraded but my flights today,down to Athens Hazard first world,problems theres still time I suppose,but at this point in time it looks like,Ill be traveling in economy on that,first leg the Gin also offers a bid for,upgrade process and long time viewers of,the channel will know that I find it,very hard to go past those without,giving them a click and so I did Lodge a,minimum bid to upgrade the flights today,from Athens down to roads its only an,hour and I obviously thought it wasnt,worth spending an upgrade voucher on a,one-hour flight but I did think it was,worth spending 25 Euros on it and that,has indeed hit so I will be in business,class for that last leg of the trip even,if Im not for the first so if youd,like to see what the trip down to Athens,is like and I believe Aegean has,returned its service to pre-pandemic,levels so it could be quite interesting,to see what that looks like these days,then stick around,hi Im Matt Ive lived in five countries,on four continents Ive flown over 1.4,million miles I visited over 100,countries every American state but Im,nowhere near done so subscribe to the,channel so you can come with me on my,next trip,so into the terminal and although I,could build some Jeopardy by speculating,as to whether I got upgraded youll have,seen the thumbnail and the description,to this video so youll know that I,wasnt I guess that the midday flight on,a Monday is a popular time to travel as,the plane was very full,I stopped by the check-in desk even,though I had printed a boarding pass,from home I thought there may be a,chance to use my natural charm and,Charisma to squeak an upgrade but the,business checking line was quite lengthy,so I decided not to bother,my gold state has afforded access to the,fast track Security even though I was,traveling in economy but somehow I got,caught up in an overflow queue for the,general security area first time Id,seen this overflow queuing area in use,of Terminal 2 hence I hadnt realized I,needed to avoid it fortunately I was,able to sneak through and the fast track,queue was very short and efficient lets,count that as a big gold card win,I had four lounges to choose from as a,gold card holder traveling on Star,Alliance through Terminal 2 count that,as another Gold Card win three of them,are by the be gate which is a long hike,to get to and a long hike to get back,from as I was confident that my flight,would depart from the a Gates,I will take an evening flight from T2 at,some point which will allow me to,complete a comprehensive Lounge crawl,but for today I restricted myself to the,fourth lounge and the only one by the a,Gates operated by Lufthansa and to,continue the Run of gold card wins this,was my first visit with that status,which afforded me access to the senator,Enclave within the wider Lounge how,exciting a separate docket was provided,which opens the Magic Door into an area,that was essentially identical to the,main Lounge the beverage offer was the,same I did note that Spirits were,available after Id not seen any during,my previous breakfast time visit and the,food offering was the same I dont,really understand this let me know in,the comments if you have any insights,into lufthansas strategy here I suppose,the room was quieter and so was a little,more relaxing but in every other way,theres no real difference between the,regular and Senator areas which I gather,there is the case in most of lufthansas,lounges which isnt to say that its a,bad offering it was actually really good,far better than some of the contract,lounges other airlines force you to use,in Heathrow these days the food was,abundant varied and it was very tasty,the drinks options were excellent some,premium Spirits Brands were included,even if once again the beer tap was not,a success it cannot be my technique,thats at fault even if every single,beer tap I come across misbehaves surely,after a very relaxing hour I headed off,to the gate AE 26 that day which is,actually the furthest possible Agate,from the lounge still not a long walk,though there was a little bit of a delay,but I used another Gold Card privilege,to be one of the first to board as,youll see in a moment I might have been,better off minimizing my time in the,seat,today though we had the pleasure of a,two-year-old Airbus a321 Id picked a,seat in row 37 Ill come back to why,later,did you know that the a321 is only two,meters shorter than the Boeing 757 I,think of the 321 as a small he,only promotes Athens Market now he just,apparently posted this two months ago,about it was on July 5th when he posted,the first time about Athens Market we,have screenshots of him from his video,saying oh this is a live account you,cant trust anybody on YouTube but I,dont do demo trading this is a live,account which first of all Athens Market,could easily change that on the back end,and make it look like its a live,account if they know that hes the,biggest one of the biggest Forex,channels on YouTube and that they can,make a little change and say that its,live instead of a demo that people will,believe him and will want to join and,see those big wins theyre going to want,to join and so he gets paid broker,commissions so this whole idea of no,commissions whatever hes getting paid Grand Hyatt Athens Review | Luxury Resort in Greece
hey everybody welcome back to another,resort tour this is the grand hyatt,athens where i stayed in august 2021,so lets check it out it was my second,time on property and its an amazing,deal,hotels in greece are pretty cheap if,youre not staying on santorini or,mykonos,so the hotel itself very stylish has,lots of nice greek notes but with a,modern feel,so lets check out the rest of the hotel,here,this is the still the main lobby this is,right above the check-in desk really,nice,chandelier,the grand hyatt is located on a pretty,busy street in athens but still walking,distance to all the main sites first,floor has the check in as well as a bar,area and nice seating area as you come,up to the the next floor theres the,first pool um the hotel itself has a,rooftop hole which well show later but,this is more of a tanning pool,lots of construction going on next door,for another hotel so not super relaxing,um but on the same level theres the,business center which is really just at,the end of the main hall but nice to,have um you know pretty pretty large,amount of amenities for what is,essentially a city hotel,um the basement has a spa as well as,this uh pretty sizable gym um youll,notice that a lot of people staying here,are american and uh going on cruises if,youre uh theyre there during the,summer,but the gym was pretty empty during my,visit,now the major highlight this being,greece is the rooftop pool and,restaurant well show you that in just a,second,but it overlooks all of athens and the,parthenon,as a globalist i had free breakfast the,top floor restaurant is where they have,the breakfast buffet in the morning,well show you that as well,so really a fantastic pool very chilly,um even when it was about a hundred,degrees outside it was pretty cold,um and youll notice that there is some,construction going on next door right,now for another uh,hotel so just keep that in mind heres,just the olympic stadium that we walked,to from the hotel long walk to this part,but possible,um yeah the breakfast in the morning was,huge spread um had tons of options lots,of breads greek yogurt,tamponades uh olives feta as well as,some hot items that were more on the,kind of british,american breakfast side as well as this,fresh honey dripping down for your,yogurts or whatever else you were,looking for,so now lets check out um the room that,i had we didnt get an upgrade to a,suite on this day the hotel was pretty,busy on our check-in day this is just a,twin room with a view of the parthenon,so pretty standard room um last time we,were in a suite which was a true you,know two room suite,but,really fantastic uh,amenities in a standard room here,um beds themselves ill say throughout,greece pretty uh hard if youre uh used,to a soft bed in america,um,the uh,grand hyatt athens uh definitely had a,had a pretty hard bed so out here on the,balcony,you can see the busy street probably the,major detraction hotel is how busy this,street is that its on,um you hear some street noise at night,uh as a globalist they did send me a,little welcome amenity with uh some of,the uzu liqueur which is uh not my,favorite but still drink it,overall great hotel thanks for watching
The Most Affordable Luxury Hotel in Athens | Grand Hyatt Athens Detailed Review
hello everyone welcome to choco Travel,Channel,Athens was one of the three stops in my,recent trip to Greece during which I,also visited Santorini and myknos,I chose Grand Hyatt as it was one of the,newly built hotels in Athens it was,built in 2018 as a hired Category 3,Hotel meaning a free night Redemption,here cost about 12,000 world of hired points,however the cash rate for a standard,room was only about 150 dollars so I,chose to book with cash,the major downside was the hotels,location,it was located on Andrea San group,Avenue which was a major sixth Line Road,in Athens nothing worries within walking,distance,I rented a car and drove the entire trip,it was about 10 to 50 minutes to,downtown,this works the biggest reason why the,price were so affordable,Unity luxury hotels in the city center,like the luxury collections Hotel would,cost 500 and more,there is a construction site right next,door,which works for an extension project of,the hotel,the project would eventually turn it,from 309 to 515 rooms making it the,highest capacity hotel in office,this construction is said to be,completed by end of 2022 hopefully it,will make this hotel an even better,option,we arrived at the Grand hired authors in,the afternoon and the hotel were super,packed,it seemed to ran very high occupancy,during summer,and along the three days of May today,there was a Conference held in the hotel,every single day,and there were also quite a few tourism,groups,it is a standard for Grand kayaks a,Lobby felt pretty Grand with high,seatings and lots of Lounge seats,it directly booked a grand suite at the,hotel was almost fully booked,the suite was about 100 dollars more,than the standard room,as a globalist I got complimentary,breakfast and access to the hotels,Grand Club located on the first floor,my Suite was on the sixth floor,you will notice the order of the rooms a,bit weird as the numbers were,intersected on both sides,this was due to the ongoing Hotel,expansion,for a three nights the room type is a,Grand Suite lets check out the room,[Music],as I enter the suite the half bath was,on the right and a closet coffee station,and mini borrowers on the left,the half bath was very spacious,here you can find the coffee machines,Coffee and Tea,then the living room with a table and,two chairs couch and wall mounted TV,[Music],foreign,[Music],have access to the balcony,the view from the balcony wasnt that,great as it was facing an abandoned,building,on the right side was the highway,the noise was quite clear when you step,outside the room on the balcony,but it didnt disturb me when an hour is,inside the room,on the other side was a residence,neighborhood again nothing spectacular,the bedroom was very luxuriously,decorated the bed was facing directly to,the living room with a wall mounted TV,over a small desk,[Music],as it was newly remodeled we found,plenty of power outlets next to the bed,or the desk,foreign,[Music],strange that the mini fridge was in the,bedroom instead of the living room,there were no seats or tables in the,balcony of the bedroom,outside the main bathroom was a closet,with drawers and a safe,[Music],foreign,the design of the bathrooms in the Grand,Suite A bit weird compared to the very,spacious half bath the main one seemed,too simple,it only came with a single vanity and,there was no tub,they should have made this main bathroom,a bit larger to be on par with other,standard Suites you would expect from,luxurious to 5 star hotel,foreign,hired others were served from the,rooftop on 8th floor,daily from 9am till 11.,the breakfast seemed to be included for,almost all Hotel guests so it was always,crowded,luckily there was plenty of seeds in the,restaurant and I didnt have to wait to,visit it,one side of the restaurant was facing,the highway and you could see the,accomplice of Athens,the breakfast included a good variety of,food and it was very tasty,[Music],thank you,one thing to note is there were also,hotel rooms on the 8th floor so it might,be a bit weird for gas staying on this,floor,you will need to pass the restaurant,first before going into your room,foreign,[Music],foreign,[Music],of the highlights of this hotel were the,pools,there were three pools on site,the best pool was in the spa next to the,gym,you would need to make appointment for,your visit ahead of time,I think the hotel was simply making sure,that the pool was not overcrowded,as Edwards always able to get a slot at,the time I wished,the indoor swimming pool was heated and,in good size,[Music],you could find plenty of Chase lounges,for a guests to relax,[Music],foreign pool,I especially enjoy the water massage in,the hot tub,[Music],next to the pool there was a steam room,and a sauna room,[Music],the second pool was on the rooftop next,to the restaurant,the pool size was quite Limited,but you can relax here in the chase,lounge and the Highlight wears a good,view of the Acropolis of Athens,there was construction going on next,door so I was looking forward to what,the new rooftop area will look like,[Music],last but not least on the second floor,there was a Atrium open air pool and a,pool bar,[Music],the water wasnt heated though,thank you,[Music],on The Spar level there was also a,well-equipped gym open 24 7.,[Music],[Music],one of the major benefits of globalized,here was The Grand Club launch access,The Grand Club was next to the barn on,the lobby floor,it was from 11AM to 10 pm every day and,seemed to serve food or snacks all day,if you miss the breakfast on the rooftop,you can come down to enjoy a light lunch,foreign,[Music],[Music],during the evening and dinner time they,also serve desserts in some hot dishes,[Music],overall I enjoyed my stay the hotel,looks luxurious the room is spacious and,well furnished the price is much more,affordable compared to other luxury,hotels in the city center,there are three pools in total which is,not very common especially the awesome,indoor pool,the hotel is expanding and hopefully it,will bring even better amenities,the cons of the hotel are so very,obvious the location isnt good if you,are looking to stay near the attractions,it wont be a good
