Fujifilm X-S10 Hands-on Review
how cool did that look,so cool, todays episode is being filmed on the, fujifilm xt4 and i need to clean my car, welcome back deep review tv viewers its, chris nichols here we are spending a,very cloudy misty day,out here in the high country today now,im going to be spending this very, what looks like blue and cold autumn day, with the fujifilm,xs 10 today you know the light today as,it is i hope it changes but if not,you know cloudy white balance im going,to play with some of the fujifilm film, simulation modes, you know try to get some more, interesting colors and shots out of this, and honestly weve seen what this 26,megapixel sensor can do,its been in a lot of other fuji cameras,so really today i really want to focus,on how this camera,is designed differently from the xd,cameras and how thats going to change,my experience today,[Music],[Music],so the xs10 might be at more of an entry, level price point but its really, designed to win over dslr users to the, mirrorless world, and what dslr cameras often give you is,a lot of control buttons customizable, buttons and dials and so i love that, they have not skimped on that,on this xs 10 at all weve got three, dials they feel, high quality i like that theyre not, labeled or specifically set for exposure, compensation like youd find on the xt,cameras, its fully customizable you can set this,up however you like it you get an iso,and a quick button up here on top that,of course you can customize to do,different things and then, very curiously there was a button here, right next to the evf which i thought, would be a really ridiculous placement, and totally useless but, actually when you hold the camera with, the grip you can easily move your thumb, over, and press it so its actually in a very, useful position you know i would say, that the xt cameras are really trying to,mimic a sort of classic, manual focus vintage camera this is,really trying to mimic a more modern, digital slr design but,i love that fuji is not pigeonholing you,in any way with the xs10,whether youre a beginner or an advanced, photographer you can set this up to work, exactly the way you want it to,now one of the standout features by far,on the new fujifilm xs10,is the fact that we have ibis in this, body and in body image stabilizer, now its a bit of a smaller mechanism, than the xt4 fujifilm says its about, half a stop less effective but it is,more effective than the xh1,but the real claim to fame here is going,to be the fact that this is a small, light camera you could use it with a lot,of the small,f2 primes for example and those primes, are not stabilized so now weve got a,package, which is stable with all those lenses so,im just looking at this scene and i,like it but im waiting for light to hit, that mountain opposite but also for the, wind to stop blowing on the water so i,get that nice clean reflection oh that, might be it jordan deck your head, okay now we absolutely have to talk, about the grip though on this camera, because thats one of the big design, changes, you know its very reminiscent of the xh,series but you got to think like the, cameras like the xt the x100 theyve, always had, very small grips and i really like this,i mean its got the looks of an xt30,superficially but that grip just makes,it look a little bit more like,a classic slr and its very functional, and comfortable to use, theyve turned that mp126w battery, sideways it fits nicely your sd card, goes right beside it,and the grip even if you have larger, hands still gives you enough space to,get your pinky on there so,i think if you were even using longer, lenses you know wildlife applications, and you didnt need weather sealing, this might actually make more sense than, even like an xt3 or xt4 camera just to,give you that comfort, and the lightweight design of it and the, only thing i am going to say about the, grip that i might not like, the spacing from the grip to larger, lenses like the 90mm,f2 that im using it is a pretty tight, space and,my knuckles are rubbing right against, that metal knurled aperture ring quite a,bit, not super comfortable and frankly i,dont have very thick fingers so someone, with larger hands, might find that a bit of a squeeze but,on a lot of the prime lenses and stuff, its going to be a non-issue,now as you may know im a big back, button auto focuser i like using the af,on button to focus my cameras now, jordan has found on many xt cameras that, the position of the af on doesnt suit, his grip or his hands whereas,i found it less problematic but still, not ideal but it just goes to show that, different people, are gonna have different requirements, for what feels comfortable now on the,xs10,jordan and i actually both prefer the, position of the af on button here it is,much more comfortable, but on top of that ive got an ael, button right next to it and ive got, that third button next to the evf,and i can set any of those up to focus, with so really the xs10 lets, anybody make this camera work for them, and i just cant help but feel like this, camera is one of the best designed, cameras for me specifically,as a photographer so i just want that, sign contrasted more against the light, grass,so thats why im doing the high angle, here and lo and behold,we have ourselves a fully articulating, lcd back panel which, for jordan and i we really love hybrid, shooters doing video were going to like, that too i know some of you, photographers, wont like that but its a bold choice,on this camera bold choice,so the evfs not going to blow anybody, away you know at only 0.63 times, magnification 2.36 million dots, its pretty much on par with a lot of,the other entry-level cameras, that would be competing against this but, yeah you know you can get 100 frames per, second as a refresh rate if you put it,into, performance boost mode that does help a,little bit,but you know its pretty par for the, course this is really what were seeing,on a lot of cameras at this price point,so as i mentioned at the top of the, video im going to be using a lot of,fujifilm simulation modes on this camera, today, because its fun and i want to spice, things up and just kind of play with, color right i think i get to do that, once in a while, and i like that its got you know some,of my favorites like classic neg that, the new processors have i think thats, one of the nicest, new profiles theyve made weve got the, usual standbys im using velvia a lot, today to add some punch but, certainly astia the software profile pro,via their standard, profile and all the others you know turn, off bleach bypasses there for the four, people that might be interested in that, profile,i can even set up a command dial if i,want to just cycle through them really, quickly and,you know its interesting a lot of the, entry level fujis were now starting to,have this, really cool before and after mode where, you can see what your phone would look, like normally and what your phone would, look like with the fujifilm simulation, mode, side by side that is sadly missing here, and thats kind of strange, there is one interesting new feature, though that existing fujifilm users, probably arent going to care about but, when you do go into the fuji film, simulation modes and youre selecting, them you can hit the q button, and theyll actually give you some, historical information about that, particular mode, what film stock it was based on what, kind of look it has what, situations it might be best suited for,and you know we gotta remember theres a,lot of people now shooting photography, that may have been born after,a lot of these original film stocks were, discontinued even,i scratched my money maker getting, photos for you all,so the least you could do is just hit, that subscribe button thatll make this, magically heal, now the xs10 can certainly hold its own,if youre doing more difficult, photography like sports in action,it shoots eight frames per second and, actually push that to 30 frames per, second in its, electronic shutter sports mode all with, autofocus, and on that topic the autofocus is quite, effective very similar system to the xt4,youre ess
Fujifilm X-S10 Review
– This is a very interesting little camera,,and Im gonna tell you what I think of it.,(upbeat music),Hi, everyone, and welcome to pal2tech.,Today, were talking about the Fujifilm X-S10,,or to put it this way, Im gonna share with you my thoughts,on this camera after using it nonstop for about three weeks.,A few things to get out of the way,,first, Fujifilm North America was kind enough to send,to me, at my request, this test unit out to review.,They also included the 18 to 55-millimeter zoom lens,,which is what I used for most of my testing.,At no time did Fujifilm have input over the content,of this video.,They did not sponsor it, and they have not seen the video, until right now.,Secondly, the 26.1-megapixel X-Trans sensor on the X-S10,is exactly the same as the sensor on the X-T4,,meaning in theory, that the image quality,is exactly the same, and because of this,,if youre looking for image quality information,,be sure to check out my X-T4 video,,which goes more into what you can expect from this sensor.,And third, I am really late to this party.,The X-S10 came out last year, and there are many very good,,in depth reviews of this camera.,I didnt wanna just repeat specs, and conduct performance tests, that others have already done before.,What I am gonna do today is simple.,Im gonna tell you what I love, and what I dont like about this camera.,So lets jump into my experience in using it.,I took this camera with me to Los Angeles, Chicago,,Savannah, and Atlanta.,In addition, I took it to Eastern Georgia,to shoot on the beaches, time-lapse,,some cosplay shots, and wildlife.,And because of its size and flip screen,,I thoroughly wanted to test out its vlogging capabilities.,So I shot a full vlog covering a 24-hour trip, across the country to Malibu, California and back.,This camera was lugged through airport security,,on and off airplanes, thrown in the back of rental cars,,carried around Venice Beach and Santa Monica and so forth.,So first off, let me tell you what I love about this camera.,It is an absolute joy to travel with.,I had my doubts on its size, when I first took it out of the box,,but then I saw the grip.,Have a look at this grip.,Look how it compares with the X-T4.,This grip is so much better than the X-T4.,It just feels wonderful in your hand.,I love it!,Also, it handled every single lens, that I was able to throw at it.,For example, I took the 50 to 140 with me,,and it worked perfectly, the size, the weight.,Because of the way the grip is,,its no problem whatsoever to have a lens like this.,It looks a little weird with this big lens on this camera,,but it gets the job done, and its not a problem at all.,But for more casual shooting or for traveling,,I would definitely prefer,to use the 18 to 55-millimeter zoom lens,,or I think ideally, youd wanna go with the 16 to 80 zoom,,which would cover a variety of shooting situations.,Its the perfect travel lens for the perfect travel camera.,Now, the more I use this camera, the more apparent it became,to me that Fujifilm built this camera,to showcase their film simulations front and center.,Even their marketing for this camera emphasizes this.,Its target audience are photographers, that want a compact camera, that can do a little bit of everything,,a camera that brings some of the best features of the X-T4,into a smaller package thats about $700 cheaper.,Now, the single SD card slot is on the bottom, right next to the battery slot.,On the side,,Fuji finally got the mic jack placement correct,,and it no longer gets in the way of the mic cable.,Great job on that one, Fuji.,I do wish, though, that this door that covers the HDMI,and USB ports was removable, however.,But for that $1,000 price tag,,you get a lotta features packed in here,,such as Burst Modes, all of the bracketing modes,,HDR, and multiple exposure features.,You get 425 focus points with great autofocus, touchscreen,,and all kinds of white balance options,,and IBIS works great too.,Now, its not quite as good as the X-T4.,You only get six stops of IBIS instead of 6 and 1/2,that the X-T4 has, big deal.,Thats a 1/2 a stop difference.,And for video shooting, you also get IS Mode Boost,,which comes straight from the X-T4, as well.,Speaking of video, there is a dedicated red record button, right on the top of the camera.,Now, while I did not like this as much,as the Movie-Still switch on the X-T4 camera,,it was still nice to be able to quickly press, that red button to kick off the video.,However, you cannot shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second.,You must use 1080p only.,Theres a built-in conformed video setting, that allows you to go up to 240 frames per second,,which is just like the X-T4, and thats a nice touch.,The camera, though, can only record eight-bit internally, with its codecs.,However, it does offer 10bit micro HDMI output,to an external recorder.,Now, the camera has a few ergonomic surprises up its sleeve.,For example, like this.,Also, you have this customizable button right here, near the eye cup, which I absolutely love.,In fact, I had it set to face/eye auto detector,in the time that I was using the camera.,Now theres also a dedicated ISO button right at the top,,which gives you immediate access to the ISO settings,,and where you would expect to find the ISO dial,on say the X-T4, you have a blank dial.,And when you turn it, the default setup,is that you rotate through the film simulations.,You see that right there?,And as I said before, this camera is serious, about promoting its film sims.,So not only do you have a dedicated dial for that, right when you first turn on the camera,,but you also get a description, like a mini Wikipedia inside here for the film sims.,And of course, lets not forget to mention the PASM dial.,Clearly, Fuji is marketing this camera to new users,of Fujifilm or to maybe new users of mirrorless cameras, who may prefer or find easier,or have a much easier time wrapping their minds around, that kind of a function dial.,And I must admit, when you set this PASM dial to AUTO,and sort of set it and forget it and throw this camera, into AUTO mode, it takes some wonderful JPEG images, while also allowing you to keep raw copies of all of them.,And for users brand new to the Fujifilm system,,this PASM dial right here may, in fact, be that nice set,of training wheels to get them into a camera, that is a really powerful machine under the hood.,Okay, so the size, the weight, the grip,,the image quality, and the great performance, for a mid-range camera priced at $700 less than the X-T4,,this camera has a lot to offer you.,And if youve never shot with Fuji before, and you want a general do everything hybrid stills, and video camera in a really small form factor,,there is a definite compelling reason to get the X-S10.,However, (laughs) you knew this was coming.,You knew it.,If you are already a Fuji shooter using say an X-T3,or an XT-4 camera,,Im not sure youre going to like this camera.,I know that the X-T4 is $700 more, than this unit right here, but heres the thing.,The X-T3 is about the same price,,and thats where your buying decision, gets a whole lot more complicated.,Here are my major issues with it.,First, they use a smaller X-T3 battery.,Once you start using the larger XT-4 batteries,,you never wanna go back.,I forget that these little things have such,a spit of power in them.,And yes, I know I have plenty of batteries, and I can bring them with me.,I get all that.,But Ive found that the internal IBIS unit on this camera,,as well as using it all day long for vlogging,,this camera just chewed, through too many batteries too quickly.,I was changing batteries out constantly during vlogging,,much more than I would have had I used the X-T4.,Now, for stills shooting, thats fine,,but if Im gonna be using this camera for vlogging,,I want a longer-lasting battery.,My second issue is actually a big one,,and that is the removal of the focus mode dial.,That was a deal breaker for me, especially coming, from an X-T3 and an X-T4,where I didnt realize h

Fujifilm X-T30 II vs. X-S10
so look at the bank here jordan you got, this walking pace water same flow you, just swing a streamer and cover all this, water,a streamer yeah and then like see this, gravel bar so like you got these two, points here and then look how it goes, over into that dark green water, theres a ledge there and you just like, nymph like a peacock lead, with a back sweeper behind it like,[Music],welcome back deeperview tv viewers it is,chris nichols here now you may remember, last month fujifilm released a whole, pile of new cameras and lenses and we,have our hands on a fujifilm xt30,version two now were not going to do a,full review today because in a lot of,ways its a very similar camera to the, original xt30 but there are some, important upgrades i do want to tell you, about those however fujifilm also has, still the excellent xs10 one of our, favorite aps-c cameras and the price, points are very similar between these, two cameras so do we go xt 30 version 2,or do we go xs10 im going to answer, that very important question today okay,so lets get into whats actually, changed and starting on the outside of,the camera actually when you look at the,xt30 version 2 nothing has changed i,mean im even surprised they havent put,a numeral 2 behind xt30 the only way you,can tell this camera is version 2 is by,the sticker on the battery door but, something has actually changed we do,have an upgrade physically the display,on the back now this is a articulating, display for vertical you know waist, level or above the head shooting this is,now 1.62 million dot lcd panel a fair, improvement over the original just over,a million dot panel on the xt-30 now the, next major upgrade is actually more, internal so theyve actually upgraded, the ram in this camera theyve removed, some of the bottlenecks in the system, and that gives us some very interesting, updates now one nice update is when it,comes to the buffer we feel that this, camera is passing through files to the, card faster but it depends on the, situation so for example if im shooting, maximum burst rates eight frames per, second the original xt30 would get about,18 shots before slowing down and this, goes to 23. thats actually not that big,an improvement however if we go down to,five frames per second which is very, reasonable if youre shooting family, stuff uh you know then youre going from, the original xt 30s max of about 23,shots to here now at 46 and that is,actually a substantial improvement, regardless if youre shooting an xt-30,version two youre gonna be able to,shoot longer bursts lets give you a,little bit of bow river fly fishing, trivia that island back there is called, christmas tree island and if anybody out, there can tell me why its called, christmas tree island jordan i will send, you a free christmas tree well cut it,down ourselves it should get there, before christmas but the shipping is on,you all right uh where was i oh yeah, okay so the original xt30 is,autofocusing the autofocus tracking was, still the old system where it had lots,of little green squares all over your, subject it was busy the hit rate wasnt, great so now im happy to report that, the xt30 version 2 has the new autofocus, tracking like youd find in the fujifilm,xt4 way more intuitive a tracking box, good hit rate so thats a welcome, improvement now the original xt30 was, missing one of my favorite fujifilm, simulation modes it was classic nag i,love using it the xc30 version 2 has, that it also now has the eternal bleach, bypass filter which i know a lot of you,out there really love jordan and i think, youre crazy we dont get it but to each, their own theres also some nice video, improvements while were talking about, you know eterna so just a couple of,minor video upgrades here first off the,xt30 original could always shoot f log,but its a very flat low contrast, profile it can be hard to kind of,envision what the results going to look, like while youre shooting now on the,xt30 version 2 we have f log assist turn,it on and you basically get a graded, look to your video while youre, recording just gives you a better idea,of what youre going to end up with the, other nice feature that we have here is,now 1080p 240 frames per second its fun, super slow-mo but at the same time its, pretty soft the quality is not great so,overall the xt-30 version 2 brings a lot,of,again honestly fairly minor upgrades i,feel like theyre just bringing it up to,the current technology level but now we,have the fujifilm xs 10 to compete, against it lets talk about how those, two duel it out so there we go xt30,version 2 versus xs10 you know fujifilm, brought a lot to the table with the xs10,a lot of interesting technology but even, more so it was a pretty bold departure, from their current design strategy i,mean up to this point theyre making, cameras that really hearken back to film, camera controls you know lots of manual, dials shutter speed on the dial i mean, they look like a retro camera and so the,xs10 really went more of a dslr way of,styling a camera now beyond dial, controls and the styling i mean what, about size and weight well theyre, actually pretty similar i mean obviously, the xs10 has a bigger grip but a lot of,people prefer that found that to kind of,be a weakness on the smaller xt series i,really dont think youre saving that, much space for me it was really more, that styling you know do you go with, this newer body design which has the new,af tracking and fujifilm simulation, modes and such or do you go with the,xt30 the original one so that you could, get that classic styling even though, youre actually missing out on a lot of,technology well basically the xt-30,version too now brings us up to parallel,as far as technology goes but there are, still some differences i want to talk, about now for displays they basically, have the same evf now again the xt30,version 2 has that higher res 1.62,million dot back panel however the xs10s,back panel although just over a million, dots does fully articulate now both, cameras can shoot a maximum of eight, shots per second with mechanical shutter, but as weve talked about the xt-30,version 2 has that improved buffer 23,raw photos in a row without slowing down, whereas in the xs 10 i was back to 18,just like the original xd30 when it,comes to video even though they both, have very similar technology the, fujifilm xs10 is going to win for some, important reasons so first off the xt30,version 2 for some crazy reason still, uses that old 2.5 millimeter jack which, means if you want to attach a microphone, you need to have the 2.5 to 3.5,millimeter adapter and adapters are, annoying if you want headphones you, still have to use the usb adapter on the,xs10 we get a 3.5 millimeter mic jack no,adapter needed and again i can use usb, adapter to do headphones but even more, importantly although again they both run, very similar video specs the xs10 will, take way longer before it overheats and,in the video world thats a huge, advantage the big major feature, difference between the two cameras is,going to be that the fujifilm xs10 has, that ibis that in body image, stabilization i think this is such a big, advantage because theres so many great, fujifilm lenses sharp little compact, primes for example that are wonderful, but dont have an optical stabilizer and, then having that ibis system the xs10,thats great for both photo and video so,really in the end when you look at these, two cameras i think the xt 30 version 2,does a great job of bringing up this, platform in line with the technology of,the other fujifilm cameras but these, cameras are only 100 difference its not,a big price jump to go to the xs10 and,get those features like ibis although, this does have advantages for buffer and, higher resolution back panel i think, its really going to come down to the, styling if you like that retro look of,the dials and just that classic film, camera look then i think the xt 30,version 2 is still a great camera to,look at for me personally if im,thinking with my head as well as my,heart i actually prefer the xs 10. in,the end though i

Sony a6400 vs. Fujifilm X-S10: Two great APS-C cameras with different superpowers
all right heading out to shoot an,episode today i feel like i forgot, something, all right im supposed to still be,filming on the pentax,[Music],ko1 thats better better, welcome back dprv tv viewers its chris, nichols here,we have a shootout for you today which i,know you love were going to compare, the sony a6400 versus the fujifilm xs10,however because of kovid we dont have, anybody else,to shoot our video so we cant really do,jordan and i going against each other, like we want to,so instead youre gonna get chris versus, chris so for our first battle lets talk, about handling between the xs10 and the,a6400,so chris id like to begin this argument,by saying that the a6400 gets a really, bad rap and its uncalled for i mean, the menus yes theyre terrible but you,get used to it its got a grip, with rubber on it even if your pinky, disappears under it all the time, and the record button isnt just about, the worst place possible but i get dual, dials, yes i have to use one finger to move, both but theres two, dials and the touch screen interface, leaves a lot to be desired theres no af,joystick but nobody cares about that, stuff, its small look how small it is now, chris in all of that you bring up one, good singular point the camera is,somewhat smaller but its not like the,xs10 is a large camera its compact, its got a fantastic grip thats very, secure feeling it also has control dials, but you can use them with two separate, fingers which is,vastly superior i love the fact that, weve got a better touchscreen interface,on here, and i have an autofocus joystick as well,so it just, feels like a camera you know chris you,do bring up some excellent points,i will graciously admit defeat you on,behalf of the a6400,and might i say youre an excellent, debater sir for our next category its, down to battle of the displays, now i think i have you beat on displays, here because first off my back panel,is over a million dots and yours is,under a million dots, and its fully articulating look at that, which i love which jordan loves we both, love it,everybody should love it its the best, way to have it handled,we do have a nice evf on here as well, and so overall i think this is the best, way to compose now chris,i know how much you love a fully, articulating lcd screen and because, were the same person we both should but,in the interest of this debate you got,to keep in mind that a lot of people, actually prefer,a vertically tilting evf like i have, here yes its under a million dots but, only slightly, and frankly many people shouldnt be,shooting off the back panel anyways, yourself included chris,we really are going to be composing, through the evf theyre both 2.36,million dots, but mine has a faster refresh rate even, when your fujifilm xs-10,has its boosted performance mode for evf, refresh rate so,i think the gentlemanly thing to do is,to call a tie here you know,im big enough to be able to say i,respect you i respect that decision i,agree with that, and the hair the hair now having a,camera that can autofocus, efficiently easy for the user and yet, very effective,is going to be critically important to,the photographic experience lets debate, that next,so let me begin my argument by saying, that only a fool would fail to,appreciate how far, fujifilm has come in their af technology, yes,it needed some improvement at the, beginning but i mean now weve got state,of the art hybrid af,and its all on the xs10 okay just slow, down here for a bit because the fact is,look,i got four words for you okay real time, autofocus tracking because were gonna, hyphenate autofocus,so itll be one word all right and, heres the thing a user doesnt wanna be,fiddling around with different modes,in the heat of the moment trying to get,the shot real-time tracking autofocus, you basically never have to leave for,99 of your work it works seamlessly with, the face and eye detect,it just holds on to subjects and follows, them so well,i mean we invented this beautiful system,to make the experience, the best it could possibly be and the, fact is that everybody else, fujifilm cannon nikon olympus panasonic,i mean all these companies are trying to,emulate what we did,so well just end of end of argument okay, but i have this really cool feature, where i just have a box,i put it on a subject i start tracking, that subject and it just tenaciously, follows it,its so easy for the user have i,mentioned that ive got real-time,tracking autofocus, yeah ive got that i have face and eye, detect okay its fantastic,it works from long distances now because, thats been a certain conclusion youre, trying to copy what weve already done, better and,our hit rates better so i win i win, fine, you win fine you win i win this chris, guys an arrogant dick, next up lets talk about the ever, important image quality, now i know what youre thinking you want,us to keep this debate to raw for my,sake but the fact is i have nothing to,be ashamed of,the sony a6400 has excellent image, quality i mean, this 24 megapixel sensor is now, ubiquitous throughout,so many other cameras because its that, good dynamic range is fantastic i mean, the fact is i have nothing to be,embarrassed about this is awesome image, quality, nobodys debating that you have bad, image quality im simply going to say, that i have better image quality i mean, ive got two more megapixels than you,ive got great, fujifilm simulation modes because we,made, film you never really did i mean, everybody loves my jpegs have i,mentioned the jpegs oh yeah, always with the jpegs every single, debate with fuji its always about the, jpeg, and the icing on the cake our scents are,so advanced it just scans so quickly, theres so little rolling shutter youre, really sure its terrible youre all, jiggly in the middle youre all, wobbly our electronic shutter is,actually usable so we win,we win i win food you win were talking, about image quality not rolling shutter, theres no rolling shutter category so,we can just ignore a rolling shutter, were gonna ignore rolling shutter cap, dont get camera on my face were gonna, talk about video quality next were, gonna do it from this empty parking lot, where nobodys watching me talk to,myself or talk to an empty wall its, gonna be refreshing its been awkward so,chris youve been having this friendly, interchange but you seem like a nice guy,but the fact is this is where i just, start to,destroy you when it comes to video, quality the fuji xs10 is so much better,i mean first off i could do 1080 240 you, cant do 1080 240,i got 10 bit external recording here i,have a mic jack i know youve got a mic, jack too but i also have a headphone, jack as an option, its not even an option it comes in the,box it comes with it i have it you dont,i mean, just give up look sony has such a rich, heritage i mean weve been making, camcorders capturing adorable, family memories and the camera itself is,fantastic for video i mean our 4k video,is sharp as long as its not handheld, because theres no ibis you get a little, jiggly ill give you that but,you know the 1080s there ive got a mic, jack, great autofocus tracking by the way in,video i think i do,legitimately have you there and if you, want ibis and headphone jack which you,do,granted well the a6600 is only slightly, more expensive right the e60,a6600 yes that camera which is,completely beyond the price point that, were debating has those features but,at this incredibly low price point i,have ibis done, win stop end game mic drop mic drop here, look, done youve been waiting for it time to,debate, battery life oh chris lets just take, this opportunity to relax, bring this heated argument back down to,a reasonable debate and just discuss how,i win battery life because, fujifilm makes some great cameras but, youre going to use them in their, performance boost mode and unfortunately, that does hurt your battery life but you, really want to use the cameras in that, mode whereas,on the a6400 i dont have to hide behind,a boost mode or performance enhancements,i mean,my camera gives me better sleeper, ratings all the time, anytime i want its an easy debate, ther
Fujifilm X-S10 Hands-on Review – Why Fuji Made This Camera
what exactly,is the xs10 and what kind of question is,that for me to ask at the beginning of,my review of,the xs10 well you see the fujifilm xs,series line of cameras did not exist, before so this,is the very first of its kind so it,doesnt even have a predecessor for our, expectations to even begin from, that being said if youre not exactly a,fuji user then the xs10 is probably, going to seem like a pretty conventional,run-of-the-mill mid-range camera but if,you arent fuji then this is probably, going to come across,as quite different in a rather, contemporary way,but if youre very very into fujis,x-series then, this might even come across as maybe, slightly, sacrilegious and heres why fuji cameras, are typically quite reminiscent of,traditional, analog cameras so this here is the xt4,and its the perfect example of what im,talking about, instead of digital numbers on a screen, you have very, physical shutter speed and iso dials, that display, absolute values for you to dial in for, example here on the xt4 you have,an iso dial a shutter speed dial and an,exposure compensation dial, but on the xs10 even though it also has, three dials on the top of the camera, its now a function dial a mode dial and,a control dial, now just listening to it it might not, sound like a very big deal but if youve, personally used fuji systems before you, would understand, how these old-school analog dials are, actually integral,to the fujifilm user experience it,changes the way you fundamentally, operate your camera, and its that along with other nuances, like the grip design on fuji cameras, they tend,to have typically a flat flat-ish body, design like theres a bulge for the grip, but it never quite extends far outwards, and with the shutter button, quite in line with the main body the,xs-10 on the other hand has this full-on,l-shaped body to accommodate this huge, grip and the shutter button is also,by comparison a big fat mod one so,unless youve been completely oblivious, towards modern cameras you wont realize, that most modern cameras, are designed more like the xs10 and less, like the xt4 so i guess you could say, that the xs10 is fujis attempt to be a,little more accommodating, for the modern mass consumer it also, comes in a rather tiny package its, probably one of the first things you, would notice if you ever come across, the xs10 in real life its almost, impossible to tell, from pictures but it would probably give, you a better idea if i place it side by,side, with the xt4 for scale which keep in,mind is already a considerably small, camera, and i do think that fuji did a rather, good job with the grip for the xs10,for such a small body the grip is really, quite comfortable to hold even for big, hands, and speaking of things that are big,big lenses its a camera with a small, body so when you throw on some of the,big boy x-mount lenses like the,to 16 or the new 50mm f 1.0,then proportionally speaking its, probably going to look, and feel a little off but a smaller body, also means,a more minimal layout on the xs10 you, wont find some additional physical, controls, like the continuous shooting mode, selector thats now reduced to a button,to access those settings theres also no,physical focus mode selector and the q,menu button has now moved to the top of,the camera beside the iso button since, theres no,iso dial so theres an iso button but, this, little red button here is i believe the, first ive seen,on a fuji camera a dedicated movie, record button,it works in stills mode as well it,starts rolling a clip if you press it in,stills mode and while testing out the, camera i actually accidentally bumped, this little lever,in the corner of the camera here and, what happened next caught me completely,by surprise,a pop-up flash i havent seen one of,these in a while the xs10 is also using, those good old w126s batteries they are,the same kind of batteries you would, find in the xt3,so not the new kind we saw in the xt4,but this is a very common battery, especially among fuji cameras so it can,be seen as a convenience in that sense, youve also got a maximum continuous, shooting speed of 8 frames per second, with the mechanical shutter and it,sounds a little something, like this, now the evf on this thing if you compare,it to something like say,the xt3 or xt4 it is a fair bit smaller, and slightly lower resolution, and i also would have preferred for the,eye cup to be a little more rubbery, its not the softest feeling eye cup, ever so not my favorite evf from fuji, but i would still say that its a very, usable, and acceptable one for a camera like, this also, this an unlabeled button right beside, the evf,now one more thing that this is probably, the viewfinder display toggle button on,the basis,of i dont know pattern observation, wrong its actually a customizable, custom function button,a bit of an unusual placement if you ask,me although you can say that its placed,in a way thats reachable, for your thumb but even that is quite, literally,a bit of a stretch the screen like the,xc4,is also a flip out screen and it also, doesnt hit,the mic input because its placed just, out of the way,and if you closely study the port which, there isnt,a lot of ports you will realize that, there is no headphone jack, but the camera does ship with a type c,to headphone jack adapter so if you ever, want to monitor audio on the xs10,you would do it through the type-c port, and given this, articulating screen plus the cameras, small footprints and relatively, lightweight i would say that this is,actually probably one of fujis best, cameras for vlogging and despite being a,mid-range camera the xs10 does come with,a very generous set of features so,generous in fact that some of these, features are probably causing the xs10,to intrude a little, into the xt4 flagship territory a little, because features like 240fps slo-mo in,1080p,you wont find that on any other fuji, camera other than the xd4 and now,its on the xs10,[Music],it also has very similar autofocus, performance when compared to the xt4,phase detection af works up to negative,7ev,when coupled with that new 50 millimeter,f 1.0 lens, not too sure how dark exactly is,negative 7ev,but it does work impressively well in,extremely dim conditions the autofocus,is still fast, and decisive theres also ibis on the,xs10 which means its one of the few, fuji cameras, along with the xh1 and the xt4 so you, have ibis, also the gfx100 has ibis as well but, thats a bit,of a different category i guess this is,also running the same x trans image, sensor as the xt 3 and 4 so we can, expect very similar image quality,of these cameras but point is this is,running, extrons now that along with film, simulations is enough reason, for many photographers to shoot, exclusively on fuji, and the xs10 has plenty of both its got,18 film simulations which is as many as,the xt4,two more than the xc3 and actually one, more than the x pro 3,meaning as of making this video this, little camera has every single film, simulation, fuji has currently released so in some, ways the xs10 is certainly right up,there with the xt4,in terms of features and even beating, the xt3,in some ways but it wouldnt make sense, for a mid-range to be every bit,as good as a flagship so of course there, are some compromises, one of the biggest ones for professional, filmmakers is going to be the video, recording codex on the xs10,this can only do 8bit 420 internally, although it can output 10bit 422 over, hdmi, the maximum bitrate for internal, recording is also capped at 200 megabits, per second,as opposed to 400 on the 3 and 4.,the xs10 can also record only with long, gop interframe compression, all intra is not available so is hlg as,well the xs10 does not record hlg,f lock however is available but 4k video, maxes out at 30p,you cant do 4k 60 like on the xt4 some, other little things that are more, exclusive to the pro cameras like dual, card slots are also absent from the xs10,we get one sd card slot tucked beneath, right beside the battery, also other things like the maximum, mechanical shutter speed is 1 4 000,of a second on the xs 10. so
Fujifilm X-S10 Long Term Review! After 1 Year Of Use! Is It Worth It In 2022?!
we got the xs10 in the house i gotta, make another xs10 video because my one, year anniversary,uh since owning this camera and i want,to give you an updated um uh review of,my thoughts having it for so long now, having owned this camera for almost a,year now i can give you guys my honest, review my honest thoughts uh just how, well this uh camera holds up in 2022,look at this look at this sexy camera, sexy camera man look at that thats a,sexy camera with the 10 to 24,look how wide i am,hey guys welcome back to the channel and, today i want to talk about this camera, the fujifilm xs10 for this review i just, want to talk about the things that i,like and the things that i dont like, and how it held up over this past year,of shooting now this review wont be as,in depth if you want to see a more,in-depth review you can watch my,fujifilm xs10 review over here somewhere,so over this past year i took this baby, everywhere i took a lot of travel photos,i did some client work with it i took a,lot of portraits so theres really a,mixed bag when it comes to my use cases, this camera is a workhorse its,its my workhorse i just love how, inconspicuous it is and im ready to,talk more about it lets start with what,i love about this camera the form factor, everything about the build quality of,this camera is awesome the size the and,the weight is a plus and the hand grip,is what i really like when it comes to,the externals of this camera i just love, how tiny this xs10 is and it just feels, great in my hands the hand grip that, they implemented on the camera is,wonderful feels real good to hold in my,hands and it takes the same batteries, the dreaded npws battery so if you guys, are upgrading from something like an xt,one xd2 x pro 1 x pro 2 etc something, along those lines then youre in luck, because those batteries will work with, your xf10 you dont have to worry about, shelling out more money for for, batteries this camera though is not, weather sealed at all although i did, take this out on a shoot outside during,a snowstorm let me tell you like it held,up,you guys were, commenting on the facebook forums and on,my videos saying how well did it hold up,and stuff like that you guys were, surprised that you know and i was, probably shooting outside for like two, hours,uh with the model in the snowstorm and,it held up very nice if you guys want to,see the behind the scenes snowstorm, portrait session you can watch it here, somewhere, this is where i have to commend, fujifilm for its, build quality although the xs10 doesnt, have the weather ceiling you can rest, assured knowing that its okay to use in,a snowstorm because some asian dude on,youtube went outside at nighttime in the, winter, during a snowstorm to take some photos, for fun,i dont know why i do this, the risk that i take,so you dont have to,lets move on to the image quality,[Music],i love the images that ive been getting, out of this camera this sensor is the, same sensor as the xt4 so youre going,to get some high quality images from, this 26 megapixel camera i love the, colors i get i love the look i i get and,i just love the feel and the motion and,the soul i get from this camera all i,need to do is just set in my fujifilm, recipe and im ready to go photograph, the town to get a high quality sensor in,a small package just makes sense to,someone like me uh the ibis is great on,this camera as well i got as low as one, over 15,of a second before and i still get a,sharp image and i shoot low light, pouches a lot so i do rely on the ibis, now this camera can go up to 4k 30 so if,youre someone that wants to do some, light video content work such as making, tick tocks reels or even like youtube, videos this is a great starter camera as,it also has the flip out tilty screen, that is needed for content creators and, what is great about fujifilm is the film, simulations these are basically just, baked in presets, coming from the camera and they are real, good i just love the film simulation so,much i become so lazy because sometimes, all i do,is edit a straight out of a camera jpeg, thats how good they are they really, look good right off the bat,and with things such as film recipes you,can you can fine tune it and get a very, stylized look,i really love the film a recipe uh,aspect when it comes to straight out of,the camera jpegs because they look so,incredible and i recommend you guys uh,check out fujixweekly.com if you guys, havent heard of them yet but this guy, richie he just creates like these old, looks from old film stocks that he used,to own you know i cant save for myself,if its accurate or not its probably, close but damn man like its for me it,just seems like it looks like its a,shot from a film camera so you can, program your like xs10 to have like a,portrait 400,film recipe look and its all because of,fuji x weekly and what richie has, created,uh,with these film simulations which is,amazing and again its a lot better than, what i can do when editing my raws i,dont know whats going on in their, processor the x-trans 4 processor or,anything like that but my images look so,good they look so filmic and so,cinematic and this is one of the, competitive advantage that fujifilm has, over the other camera brands the fuji, colors are so nice and its one of the, reasons why i wont give up on fuji, completely i will always shoot fuji, because of their amazing colors lets, get on with things that i dont like, after almost a year of shooting,[Music],theres only two that comes to mind one,is more bothersome than the other the, other is just annoying, but its been fixed since firmware, update but i still have to address this, because it it affected me the first, thing is the buffer uh this thing is so,damn annoying man i shoot on continuous, bursts at the lowest settings which is,like what like, five frames per second and i have a hard, time with this camera crapping out on me,after like like 20 shots to 25 to 40,shots so once i hit my max i will have,to wait a few seconds for it to buffer, and for it to read everything out i,usually wait like five seconds before, shooting again when i start to continue,my burst it just starts lagging and, jamming the buffer and then it gets to,the point where,it wont shoot because its locked and,at this point nothing on this camera, works sometimes it freezes and then i,have to like switch the on and off, button and sometimes the on and off, button doesnt work so i have to,actually remove the battery out just to,like make it completely dead so theres, like no electricity coming in and this, happens every time i go out and shoot, this is the one quirk, one quirk that that i have to live with, with this camera i dont remember, the xs 10 uh the xt4 doing this i think, the xd4 has like a faster processor, inside or something you guys let me know,in the comments below if you have that, problem because um at this point i shoot,i shoot a lot of bursts because you know, with portraits you have the models, moving around a lot so i just like to,capture the right frame at the right, moment so i am relying on the burst to,capture capture it i put in like a very, fast memory card i dont think the, memory card has to do anything with this,i thought putting in a faster memory, card would help but it doesnt the, buffer its so freaking annoying like i,have to live with this when i whenever i,show the clients the,the photos i have to wait, and sometimes i,it just looks like,it just looks so bad just waiting for a,camera to freaking load and this is the, kind of that makes me want to,completely switch,to,sony, ill do it ill,ill completely switch,i already have the video camera, you dont think ill just, you dont think i can just switch out, this camera fuji are you listening are,you listening, this is one negative and one quirk and,one thing that i really do not like, about this camera does anybody else have, this problem or is it just me like it,could be because you know theyre not, putting all their flagship stuff into, this camera and thats probably one of,the hammer that they put in if,you know let me know be it b
