Nine Perfect Strangers Ending Explained
after a season of unorthodox treatments, and shocking breakthroughs our stay at,tranq willem house has come to an end, before checked out though nine perfect, strangers delivered what turned out to,be a series of happy endings for each of,its central characters, lets take a closer look at the ending,of nine perfect strangers and find out, spoilers ahead namaste what happens to,masha and frank willem house on the, final day of the retreat masha and, carmel make peace and the former, forgives the latter for trying to kill, her the tranq willem house leader then, joins napoleon and his family in the, forest where under the heavy influence,of hallucinogens they are able to,interact with zac and make their peace,[Music],masha however remains restless because, she is unable to reconnect with her, young daughter who died in a mishap many, years ago as the final day begins to,close masha finally sees her young, daughter and talks to her meanwhile the, police arrive on the property and begin,to question the guests masha is also, taken away to be interrogated in the, closing scenes of the mini series we see,how each of the guests is faring after, their tumultuous experience at the, retreat and tony and francis seem to,have moved in together,so the disastrous consequences that the, residents of tranquillum house expect, finally dont come to pass by the time, the police show up in the end the guests, have all realized the life-changing,positive effects that mashas, experimental therapy has brought about,in them therefore none of them file a,complaint against her and they all, seemingly give vague answers to the, questions they are asked by the, investigators um,this is perhaps most obvious in the, article published by lars who initially, came undercover to tranquillum house to,dig up dirt on masha but in the end, publishes an article exalting her, methods of treatment masha seems to have, kept bens flashy sports car and is last, seen driving down an open road reunited, with the memory of her daughter which, she can visualize as sitting next to her, this also means that masha is not, arrested for using drugs possibly, because none of her guests and employees, testified against her an interesting, exchange also seems to have occurred,off-screen as ben and jessica seem to be,the new owners of tranq willem house, while masha is now in possession of,their expensive car,i was shot dead,in the series finale it is finally, revealed that the hooded man that shot, masha and almost killed her all those, years ago was actually carmel in,disguise through the episode we find out, that masha slept with carmels husband, many years ago which seemingly drove the,man to have more and more affairs, outside of his marriage this finally led,to him abandoning carmel and their kids, therefore carmel essentially blames, masha for her marriage falling apart,oh damn it damn it to add to her, feelings of anger and frustration when, carmel approached masha with a gun she, dismissed the grieving wife by flinging,a bundle of money at her incensed and, furious carmel then lost control and, shot masha interestingly masha, eventually forgives carmel because she, considers the near-death experience, brought on by the attack to be the cause,of tranq willem house being created,oh my god frances and tony leave, tranquilum house and head to get dinner, together during their stressful times of,the retreat the two have alternatively, also expressed an attraction to each, other therefore it seems very likely, that they decide to build a life, together we even get a brief visual of,francis and tony living together with, his daughters as one big happy family,[Music],in the end lars gets his wish of having,a baby with his boyfriend and also has,his article on masha and frank willem, house published as the cover story of,his magazine carmel inspired by masha, learns to forgive herself for all the, anger and violence she has channeled at,people and seems to be leading group, therapy sessions for others ben and, jessica have taken over tranq willem, house and are seen in flowing white, mashas robes welcoming new guests to,the retreat and finally the marconi, family is seen driving away at peace, with the death of their family member, zack,i grew up watching american television, you
Nine Perfect Strangers REVIEW
drew here and talking about this new, series based on the novel by leon, moriarty for those of you who dont know, its just about a bunch of strangers, going to a wellness center and the, person in charge of the wellness center, played by nicole kidman,is manipulating them and pushing them,to their limits as she tries to,accomplish some mysterious purpose,uh so thats the basic premise,my wife when this was announced she was, super excited because she loves leanne, moriarty, and this was apparently one of my wifes, favorite leanne moriarty novels so i was, interested in it too obviously leanne, moriarty is best known for the, adaptation of her work that premiered on,hbo which is big little lies,so,i was interested in this too because i,enjoyed big little lies and i was up for, some more prestigious soap,uh but it was weird because the trailer, came out and some of you might have, watched my reaction to that trailer i,was kind of stunned,at how little of a hook there was like, the cast is amazing i think this is,honestly im having trouble, remembering a better, cast on tv im sure there has been but i,cant think of one,um,so it was astonishing to me you know, that these actors were on the show but, when i saw the trailer i was like whats, the hook like where is the hook, and as i started watching these first, three episodes at one point i turned to,my wife and i said, there are thriller elements in this, right like its not just like a wellness, retreat its not just like therapy shes, like oh yeah theres a ton of thriller, elements, and this gets to something that i think,is a little bit of a problem with the, show and i i like the show on the whole, but it has a lot of problems, but the first problem i would point out,is again whats the hook i think there, are some hints of thriller,thriller-esque,aspects i think one of the most, interesting things is,seeing uh its revealed at one point, that masha has picked these individuals,to come to the wellness retreat because, they will, interact with each other in ways that, bring out each others demons and its, interesting wondering, what different interactions as you watch, these interactions which people were, brought there to push other people and,to press their buttons i mean thats you, know something very entertaining but, really the most, thrillery,uh elements in the first three episodes,is one we dont really know what masha,is up to we dont know if shes actually, altruistic and wants to help these, people or if she has some sinister, motives, and it seems that as characters do,things that are more and more out of,character that perhaps she is,drugging them giving them some kind of,illicit substances that are causing them,to act out of character and thats kind,of,a little bit, frightening but that doesnt get played,up enough in these first three episodes,i feel and also that someone,is texting masha these threatening, messages saying that its like her last, week to live, but to me both of these things are, severely underplayed and it ends up,feeling just like youre at a wellness, retreat with these characters thats, basically what it feels like and i mean,im sure some people enjoy that but i,never watched in therapy for a reason, because i dont think that that, conceptually is very cinematic or very, interesting its certainly not very, mainstream which is what this show,is probably striving to be its it seems, like this is perfectly calibrated to be,the next little fires everywhere or big, little lies, and its going to be interesting to see,if it takes off like those shows because,to me at least in these initial three, episodes which i liked i dont think it,will i think people will tune in but im,im not convinced that theyre gonna, keep watching necessarily once they see, what this show is actually like,um the other thing that strikes me you, know my wife and i we recently just, finished a show called white lotus and, there was a couple ways that white lotus, did these things, that i think this show should be,striving to do i highly recommend white, lotus by the way,but the things that it did that i think, the show should be trying to do one it,had a really really obvious hook it,starts off with a body in a coffin and,you spend the whole series wondering who,is going to die thats a good hook, this show like i said there is no hook, like im constantly wondering like what, are we supposed to be,wondering about the text messages that, masha is getting well thats you know, they need to play that up more its not,its also just not as visually, and, mentally captivating as,a body in a coffin like that immediately, grabs your attention whereas text, messages that are threatening i mean,i feel like thats just not that, cinematic, but regardless the fact that that hook,is not there i mean it makes this series, just seem like like i said a bunch of,interactions between characters at a,wellness retreat and theyre interesting, enough characters and theyre portrayed,by some fantastic actors, but on the whole i feel that theres, this aspect that could have taken it to,the next level thats lacking,my wife and this is the other thing i,think this show could have learned from, white lotus,as we uh as the show came out my wife, was bemoaning the fact that it gets, released,so late at night,in our time zone and at such a time that, were not going to watch it live because, when the white lotus was airing on a,weekly basis we would text,my,brother and his wife about this show and,we were just having a ball you know it,was a lot of fun to just text our, reactions to stuff because hbo releases, things at a set time and its a time, that people will show up and watch, whereas this show is being released at,such a time i think most people are, going to wait and watch it sometime, during the day on wednesday theyre not, going to watch it the minute it is,released on hulu, and, you know i,i understood my wifes point about that, but something that struck me as i was, watching these three episodes is i dont, know what i would be texting about there, just werent a ton of water cooler, moments it just felt you know like a lot,of conversations between characters some,of them very entertaining some of the, interactions,uh were funny and a lot of them were, engaging, but,it didnt seem to me that there was mo,standout moments where i was like ah,thats thats something that i would be,texting austin and his wife about like,it just didnt strike me that way and, maybe youll feel differently maybe, youll be tweeting the heck out of the, show but for me that just wasnt a thing,so its gonna be interesting to see how,the show takes off or doesnt on a,weekly basis they released three, episodes initially, and, you know so you can watch the first, three episodes now and then theyre, going to release an episode every week,um,so to me,this show is good but not great so far,and it has potential to get better but,its hard to say if it will or not not, having read the book, and not really knowing where its going,if i had to attribute its problems to,one thing i think its the, director i think david e kelly you know,he mass produces these shows and hes,got a knack for just creating things, that people are going to want to tune in,and see,uh but in this show its directed by,jonathan levine and big little lies had,a very very talented auteur director in,this show jonathan levine if you look at,his repertoire of films, hes directed things that were pretty, broad comedies and some of them were, quite bad,in my opinion, and the thing is i think that makes him,a poor fit for this material we dont, always talk about you know television as,being mainstream or more independent, style but this is definitely mainstream, television like i said it seems, perfectly calibrated to entertain and to,hit all these very very obvious notes, and jonathan levine i think that its, pretty clear to me like the acting, across the board like i said this is an,amazing cast of fantastic actors but the, performances seem broad like something, you would see in a comedy and im not, just saying that because melissa, mccarthy

Nine Perfect Strangers Book vs. Hulu Show Comparison | Spoiler Discussion
Hi Im Em from twenty one readers! Today were talking about Nine Perfect Strangers comparing ,the book versus the show this video is going to contain spoilers for both the book and for ,all eight episodes of Nine Perfect Strangers the way Im going to structure this video is general ,things that were the same and then since this was a very character-driven story Im going to ,go character by character with what was the same and different and then at the end I will get into ,the ending what was the same and different time stamps are in the description if you want to jump ,around to different sections the setup for the book and the show are the same with these nine ,strangers coming to Tranquillum house to try to be their best selves and then theres this big reveal ,that they find out that Masha has been microdosing them with LSD in order for them to become ,their best selves for the most part most of the characters reasons for coming to Tranquillum was ,the same once the guests got to Tranquillum house and they found out that theyve been microdosing ,a lot of the middle chunk of the show was just a character study learning more about the characters ,so now Ill go character by character with what was the same and what was different well ,start with Frances’s character played by Melissa McCarthy she was our main character our main guest ,that were focusing and her reason for coming to Tranquillum was the same in the book as in the ,show her main reason was because shes like down on her look feeling alone because she was scammed ,by this person named Paul Drabble who pretended to be in an online relationship with her in order ,to get scammed for money Paul made up that he had a son and then scammed Frances into giving ,her money so thats her main reason for coming to Tranquillum house however shes also kind of stuck ,in a life slump a rut with her romance writing career because her book isnt doing very well ,and that was also in the book I would say that in the book her declining career was brought up ,a lot more than it was in the show in the show it was more focused on Paul something that happened ,with Frances that happened with a lot of the other characters is that they showed a lot more of their ,hallucinations that they were having and this was largely due to the fact that Masha started ,increasing their dosage in the show besides just micro dosing and that did not happen in the book ,in the book they stayed with the microdosing so in the show once Francess dose was increased ,she started hallucinating Paul the person that scammed her a lot more so we had at least three ,hallucinations of Paul from Francess character most of frances scenes were with Tony so hes the ,next character Im gonna get into Tony was played by Bobby Cannavale and a lot of things were added ,to his character in the book Tony very much felt like a side character like a character that could ,have been cut but Tony was very much one of the main characters in Nine Perfect Strangers the show ,and for a good reason the things that were the same in the book and the show with Tony ,is that Tony was a former famous football player and that Tony was estranged from his adult ,children and something that was added for the show is that Tony is addicted to opioids and Tony ,is just feeling depressed those conversations of addiction and depression are very much ,talked about a lot from Tonys character with Frances and with Masha and in general ,a romance begins between Frances and Tony at the retreat in the book they were together but they ,didnt get together until after the retreat had ended but their romance started at the ,retreat in the book it very much felt like just convenient that Frances and Tony got together ,but since they developed Tonys character more for the show to talk more about ,his interpersonal struggles with depression with addiction with his family he was able to connect ,more with Frances and some of the strongest dialogue was with Frances and Tony in terms of ,like them supporting each other and what theyre working with and them feeling lonely them feeling ,like hopeless so at times during the middle of the show it kind of felt like we were getting too much ,friends and Tony scenes compared to the other characters but since by the end it made sense ,for them to be together and I was rooting for them to be together it made sense why they had so many ,scenes why they had so much screen time and I was glad that Tony was very much given more material ,to work with given more depth than he was in the book okay now time to talk about Ben and Jessica ,they were not in the show as much as I thought they were going to be which was definitely ,disappointing considering they were some of the highlights from the book their reasons for coming ,for Tranquillum was the same as the book which was that they won the lottery now theyre very ,rich theyre very superficial and so because of that theyre not really filling their relationship ,in the book they end up breaking up and in the show they stay together ,in the book they talk a lot about Bens family member who suffers from addiction ,but in the show the character of Ben only mentions that once so its not really even brought up ,maybe thats because since Tony now has an addiction they didnt want to bring it up twice ,and so thats where they cut it but I felt like way more connected to Ben in the book than I did ,with the show I wish that they would have given Ben and Jessica more to talk about I feel like ,Ben didnt really talk to anybody in the show besides Jessica that much and Jessica really ,only had like one scene with Frances they really only talk to each other by the end Ben and Jessica ,come to realize that they want to have meaning in their life beyond just superficial things ,which was a great realization to come to but like they didnt really have any scenes ,that led up to that realization they just kind of like thought of it like oh we should stop being so ,superficial that seemed a little bit convenient that there that they just came to that like ,they didnt really deserve that big moment of realization I didnt connect with Ben and Jessica ,as much but thats because they also didnt give us a lot to work with and a lot of scenes for us ,to connect with them next we have Yao and Delilah played by Manny Jacinto and Tiffany ,Boone one thing that was different from the book is that Yao Delilah and Masha were all kind of ,in a relationship but like separately so like Yao and Delilah were together Delilah and Masha were ,together and Yao and Masha were together except Yao and Delilah were like the main relationship ,anyway that whole part of their relationship was not in the book something that was the same is ,that Yao was very loyal to Masha because Yao was the person that resuscitated her Delilah we dont ,know that much about her backstory in the book Yao was very loyal to Masha towards the end but ,Delilah something thats different in the book is that Delilah did flee in the book and in the show ,but in the book Delilah flees never to be heard from our scene again but in the show Delilah flees ,go gets the police and thats why the police show up at the ending also glory is in the show but not ,in the book as a third worker at tranquillium all right for the next characters Im going to talk ,about theres going to be an element of Mashas storyline that is discussed because all of these ,characters connect with something else that we find out is going on with Masha okay so next well ,talk about the Marconis which is Napoleon heather and Zoe so the Marconi family their reason for ,coming to tranquilim was the same in the book as in the show which is that their son slash brother ,Zach committed suicide three years ago so they want to be together as a family during this
Nine Perfect Strangers Review | Hulu Original Series (Eps. 1-6)
hello everyone and welcome to,lost in the episode today im going to,be going over the new hulu limited, series nine perfect strangers based upon, the best-selling book by leanne moriarty, does this series which is also from the, same creator of big little lies live up,to that incredible hbo show, lets talk about it,[Music],nine perfect strangers is created by,david e kelly and directed by jonathan, levine it stars nicole kidman melissa, mccarthy bobby canevalli luke evans, regina hall tiffany boone manny jacinto, melvin gregg samara weaving asher ketty, grace van patten and michael shannon, nine stressed out city dwellers visit a,boutique health and wellness resort that, promises healing and transformation the, resorts director is a woman on a,mission to reinvigorate their tired, minds and bodies,as far as limited series go even though,it did get a second season big little, lies is probably one of my favorites of,the last decade david e kelly created, something really special with that show, that captured the lives of modern women,in a realistic way who are all stuck in,a horrible predicament it was a mix of,soap opera character study and mystery, thriller with one of the best cast, imaginable and assured direction by,jean-marc valle so kelly is looking to,strike lightning twice with nine perfect, strangers based upon another leanne, moriarty novel, and while i do think that this show is,going to be a hit for hulu after, watching the first six episodes, this is just nowhere near on the same, level as big little lies, the setup here is really intriguing we,have a group of nine strangers coming, together who are all damaged and broken, looking for healing at a wellness spa,the establishment is owned and run by a,mysterious russian woman who is being, targeted by an anonymous source who, wants to take her down, these strangers lives are all put, through the ringer as we slowly learn, more about them and why they have been,hand-picked by this woman to be a part,of this healing experience, kelly had the chance to replicate his, success from big little lies here in,every way he has collected one hell of,an ensemble cast with nicole kidman, leading the way once again and the story, itself lends its way to another, thrilling mystery that is backed by,profound character development and im,just gonna say this right now im not, familiar with the source material but, what happened here, well to start off very few of these, characters are actually all that, interesting many of them land into such,a cliche stereotype from the very get-go,and you can feel the actors trying to,claw their way through this script to,provide us with something more, meaningful as a huge fan of melissa, mccarthy it pains me to say that this is,another misfire performance from the, talented actress it also doesnt help, that her husband once again shows up,here and at times it felt like they were, pushing to make it the melissa mccarthy, ben falcone show rather than the, ensemble piece that it should have been, and then we have nicole kidman who, whilst ethereal and whose backstory is,quite fascinating,is unfortunately held down by a very, misguided russian accent that weaves in,and out without abandon, luckily many of the other cast members, fare a little bit better here with their, roles the huge standouts for me are, michael shannon asher ketty and grace, van patten as the soul family in this, bunch of strangers shannon one of the, best character actors working today is,fascinating to watch as napoleon who, along with his gorgeous wife and, daughter are dealing with their grief, over a lost family member, these three provide such thoughtful, performances and also get some of the, most gripping arcs of the series, its a shame that it all gets a bit, muddled throughout the noise of some of,these other characters stories though,my other issue with nine perfect, strangers is that after six episodes i,still dont know why i should be,watching the mystery of the wellness spa,and its owner are revealed pretty early,on and then it just kind of continues to,devolve into a mess of psychedelic, nonsense i wish this series would have, taken its time to reveal its secrets, because now with only two episodes left,to go im left wondering why i should, continue to care but will i continue, watching these final episodes,of course though i have many issues with, nine perfect strangers there is enough, meat on the bones of this story to make,me at least mildly interested to see how, this wild experience and the characters, involved all end up the cast is doing, the best that they can to make this, series worth watching and director, levine who helmed the wackness in 5050,adds his own unique charm to the, proceedings, theres just something missing here that, makes this show about healing and, overcoming grief seem a bit empty inside, and i know many critics will be,comparing the two shows but hbos the, white lotus tackled a lot of the same, subject matter in a far more gripping, satirical and nuanced way,so i will be giving 9 perfect strangers,2.75 smoothies out of 5.,this is a very ambitious series with an,impressive cast who are all willing to,give it their all, even if they are not all successful and, although the premise starts out, intriguing it slowly falls off the rails,to become an experience that does not,add up to the sum of its parts,so i will be saying that you should, watch this series if you have nothing, else to watch once again nine perfect, strangers has a lot to offer but it is a,very flawed and disappointing show so,far im still hoping that they are able,to pull it all back together and salvage, what they started in the last two, episodes though, thank you so much for watching lost in,the episode we will see you soon,[Music],you
EPISODE 1: NINE PERFECT STRANGERS Review **SPOILER ALERT**
