hows it going guys sherway here for a,video and today we are going to be,covering whether or not you should be,switching to t-mobile,im going to be giving you my thoughts,the pros the cons,and how the first month of being a,t-mobile customer has worked out for me,if this is your first time checking out,any videos on the channel my name is,shayway and welcome to sherway tech,where i cover lots of stuff in the tech,industry,and i love sharing my experiences to,help you make better,decisions when it comes to your,technology today in specific i want to,dive into t-mobile,so to kind of give you a little bit of a,backstory i started out,looking for a different carrier after,being fed up with a tnt service,compared to their price i live in,georgia so keep in mind that all of the,stuff that im going to be talking about,will be relevant to that area but this,will kind of give you an idea of what to,expect in a metro,slash also rural areas as well out of,the four people on my plan,two of them myself and my wife actually,live,in atlanta on the outskirts of atlanta,and spend a lot of our time,in downtown so we know what the coverage,would be like in,a city area and then the other two,people in my plan are my mom and dad,which live in the rural parts of georgia,so i can give you an idea of what its,like for the service,out in the countryside as well were,gonna break this down to the pros the,cons and whether or not i plan on,keeping them as a carrier,so first lets go ahead and get into it,with some of the pros,so the first pro probably isnt going to,come to a surprise,but the price the price is significantly,better with t-mobile compared to,a tnt im saving nearly 80,a month for the same exact service and,the same number of lines,that i had with a tnt this really isnt,that big of surprise considering,t-mobile is known to be,a disrupter in that space branding,themselves as the uncarrier,the next pro was the initial offer that,they offered me to,switch from at t to t-mobile looking,online i was able to find a deal to,where i got the third line,free on my account therefore out of four,lines im only paying for three of them,this saves me 40 bucks a month in,addition to,an initial rebate per line of a hundred,dollars,totaling for four hundred dollars for,moving from att to t-mobile those came,in the form of a digital prepaid,mastercard in which i was able to use it,for really whatever we wanted to,other pros are the two main perks that,are bundled with,t-mobile and that is netflix being,included,and t-mobile tuesdays the netflix,account is a standard netflix account,but you can,upgrade to a higher netflix tier and,just pay the difference on your bill,for instance we have a four stream,playback as well as,4k video and i think were paying like,four dollars a month,and thats just being billed through our,t-mobile bill t-mobile tuesdays is,really cool too,if youre not familiar with what that is,every tuesday t-mobile gives out free,stuff whether that be,food or discount prices on gas or,sometimes you can go to the store and,get like a beanie or a flashlight,just random stuff and it happens every,single tuesday,for instance this past tuesday we,actually were able to get the new,impossible whopper from uh burger king,and,was basically able to eat lunch for less,than three dollars,this is a very cool perk and honestly,something we look forward to,every tuesday the next point is about,their coverage and that is,5g coverage seems to be significantly,better,than what i was having with atnt in the,state of georgia at t,came out and said that basically the,early stages of 5g for them will be very,similar to 4g,and i cannot agree more honestly i felt,like,it is even slower than the 4g that i was,getting on my 11 pro max,so keep in mind that if youre wanting,some really fast 5g speeds,at least in the city of atlanta and in,probably the rest of georgia too youll,want to go with t-mobile,big asterisk this has to do with the,time when this video is filmed,that could change of course 5g is in,very early development and there are,more towers and more support rolling out,worldwide on every carrier,so lets go over some of these cons when,im driving around i dont think,my coverage is quite as reliable as it,was with,a t at least for phone calls when,traveling to and from work and being on,a phone call,i often either drop the call or in some,cases,ill have to repeat myself four or five,times for the person on the other end to,hear me,of course this is could be in my own,specific area but,it is a little bit of an annoyance and,it is something that i did not have to,worry about whenever i was with a t,overall the data connectivity though,seems to be fairly consistent and,very reliable that being said the next,con is specifically around my house,and the connectivity whenever i was,signing up for the carrier,the rep actually pulled up a map and,showed me,hey right across the street you have a,5g tower your connection is going to be,insanely good,and unfortunately thats just not the,case sitting in my home across the,street from a 5g tower i actually have,worse,cellular connectivity than i did with a,tnt and honestly anywhere else on the,t-mobile network when driving around,of course this may be an issue with the,specific tower but i did want to point,that out because it is something that i,would want to be aware of if i were,looking to,a new carrier so basically what im,getting at is you probably dont need to,look,at tower placements because that may not,actually be,an accurate portrayal of how well your,service is going to work,i think if you are on the outskirts and,this is a single tower,its probably not going to be quite as,reliable as a tower that is surrounded,by multiple other towers and you are,deep within a coverage area of 5g the,next thing i wanted to bring up is being,in congested areas i dont feel,that the service reliability is that,good,and that is for data and phone calls,this could be in parts that,t-mobile doesnt have the infrastructure,to support a lot of connections going on,at one time,or it could just be a issue with the,specific towers i was connecting to,but i definitely feel that when i am in,a congested area i had better service,with,honestly verizon a t,either one of those carriers compared to,t-mobile so there are a lot of awesome,things about t-mobile and there are a,lot of,cons that ive noticed about the carrier,too do i think the service reliability,is going to cause me to move away from,t-mobile right,now probably not honestly the perks and,the pros outweigh the cons,especially for the price so i think that,im going to give t-mobile another six,or seven months,just to see how the service plays out,and whether or not,theyre going to improve it over time if,it does improve,i can say that t-mobile will still be an,awesome carrier to have in the state of,georgia,but its going to take them building out,the network more and giving more,widespread coverage to 5g hopefully this,will continue to happen,as they are still adopting some towers,from the sprint network over to t-mobile,and updating them so guys i hope this,shed some hey whats going on everybody this is,Tyrone back with tech life,and is this a mistake by a t so here we,have another great article from CNET,which I will leave in the description,down below now I know right now,every single sector is being looked at,in terms of job cuts,so Im not speaking on it from that,perspective I know T-Mobiles making,Cuts I know Verizons making Cuts,Microsoft,you know everyone right now is in a,is in a cutting,job cutting mode right or at least to,see CFOs of companies,the reason I want to highlight and point,out why it may be a mistake for ATT to,cut,marketing and sales jobs,is because,ATT has been growing,they have been,and we havent seen any evidence of a,Slowdown,they have been at the top,potentially for the last few quarters,you know before this last quarter of,being the fastest growing wireless,carrier in the United States and I still,dont think weve seen ATT Peak yet on,their fiber growth as they scale,as they touch more homes past with fiber,theyre going to continue growing even,bigger,in in that business segment too,so thats why I thats why I take the,position that it this may be a mistake,for a t as they continue growing the,company now I know these,these jobs that are being cut these few,hundred people someone else is going to,likely pick up the slack but I still,think you know being a little,overstaffed especially when youre,growing the way youre growing,is potentially it could just be a,benefit to you in a positive way,especially since you know there with all,this new growth there could be potential,better Financial outlooks and better,profits and and I mean 18t makes,billions a quarter anyway in profits so,I think its a I think its a uh a bit,of mistake especially since it only was,a few hundred people,but of course the CFO and and his team,they you know Pascal they look at,they look at everything and you know,they decided to do it so thats whats,coming ATT is going to cut sales jobs uh,in the first quarter of 2023 starting in,January,and from what Im being told is there is,no end in sight to this not saying that,its going to be a mass layoff but you,know each business segment,and unit is being looked at and there,could be potential,layoffs at other business units as well,so make sure you guys stay tuned to the,channel for more like share subscribe,follow my social media Outlets this is,Tyrone with tech life Ill see yall in,the next one peace

month and,this plan is awesome you get unlimited,data and the first 22 gigabytes are,actually prioritized this means youre,getting slightly better performance in,those situations where the at t network,is busy and for my testing this has the,exact same data speeds and performance,as a ts post-paid unlimited extra plan,you get 10 gigs of high-speed hotspot,data here up to 4k video streaming and,unlimited high-speed data roaming in,canada and mexico,also as i mentioned youre finally,getting access to atnts 5g network and,as a bonus att is throwing in 100 gigs,of cloud storage but i dont recommend,you use this uploading anything to the,at t cloud just means when you go to,switch plans or carriers its going to,be more difficult youre going to have,to download that data you uploaded and,it could be deleted or lost so i dont,recommend it consider using solutions,like google drive icloud drive dropbox,or others for your cloud storage needs,all of atts prepaid plans also include,fraud call blocking and spam alerts in,terms of feature support at t prepaid,supports pretty much everything youd,expect you get voice over lte wi-fi,calling hotspot on those compatible,plans and group and picture messaging on,both iphone and android devices the one,feature that was slightly different was,visual voicemail visual voicemail worked,perfectly fine on my iphone 12 pro but i,couldnt get it to work on my pixel 5 or,my galaxy s20 in their respective,voicemail apps instead i had to download,a third third-party app called umail to,get visual voicemail to work so those,are the att plans but are they actually,worth it how do they compare to the,competition well there are three plans,that are not worth it the 30 plan forty,dollar plan and fifty dollar unlimited,plan for the same thirty dollars per,month you can double your data with a,plan from red pocket or if youre,willing to pay annually you can get four,times the data amount and the same thing,goes for the 40 plan you can get plans,with more data at lower prices from red,pocket as for the unlimited plan well,the unlimited plus plan is literally the,same price right now with the discount,and it offers better features so,just get that one and that brings us to,the two plans that are worth it the 25,annual plan and the 50 unlimited plus,plan 25 for eight gigs is honestly a,pretty good value yes red pocket does,offer the same plan for just twenty,dollars per month and you can get an,extra four gigs of data by going with an,annual plan from unreal mobile but i,think at t will offer a slightly better,experience youre getting full support,for all features on at t you dont need,to configure apn settings or download,profiles like you do on red pocket there,is no 75 megabit per second speed cap,like there is on red pocket lte and you,can even find discounts on at t prepaid,refill cards that can help bring that,cost down even further id still,consider red pocket or unreal mobile if,you are looking for that discount trying,to be frugal and get the best bang for,your buck but otherwise i think the cost,and data amounts are similar enough on a,t prepaid that it ends up being a
