BVLGARI – Save The Children Ring | A birthday gift to myself
[Music],every year i pick something for my,birthday, not so much as a reward but as a,reflection of what ive been into for,the past year or years,it may also be something from a new, territory thats recently come into my,focus, this year i picked the save the children, ring from bulgari, but before i get into the video i just, want to make it clear that this is in no,way sponsored,i have known bulgari since undergraduate, school back then almost all my,fragrances were from them so the brand, isnt new to me,when i was picking out a birthday gift, for myself this year bulgari came to my,mind right away because of their ongoing, philanthropic partnership with save the, children,it left a deep impression on me when i,first came across the collection online, after being a parent last year their, mission really resonated with me,back in 2009 bulgari embarked on a,partnership with save the children, because of a bold dream empowered, millions of children to build a better, future through education,[Music],the ring in sterling silver and black, ceramic is inspired by the b01 jewelry, collection, its engraved with the save the children, logo on the inner side, for every piece sold from bulgarias, save the children jewelry collection a,part of the proceeds will be donated to,fund programs, these provide support and opportunities,to the worlds most vulnerable children, and youth,[Music],over the last decade more than 1.5,million children have been helped to,make their dreams come true,[Music],like almost everything i buy i prefer to,have some sort of purpose or meaning,[Music],i believe that when i get things, intentionally with special meanings, attached to them they have more value,im less likely to get rid of them later,so if the gift i want this year is a,ring i might as well get one that has a,good purpose behind it,[Music],except for my wedding band i dont, really wear any of my rings on a daily, basis,at this point if im buying another one,it should be meaningful in a certain way,i want to wear it more often instead of,having a collect dust in the closet, thats why im really enjoying this ring,so far it can be worn daily and also has,a great meaning behind it,[Music],topics like creating sustainable, ecosystems building a better education, system and improving childrens health, barely came across my mind before my,daughter was born,[Music],being a parent really broadened my,perspectives and made me see more things,i should be responsible for,not only for my daughter but future, generations in general,[Music],this ring will always remind me the, great mission bulgari committed to,and to a certain extent it also opened a,new world to me with respect to issues, that i should care about more,[Music],youJennifer Garner Talks About Nonprofit Save The Children | TODAY

do you incorporate you were born in,texas then you moved to west virginia, you have this farm in oklahoma how do,you incorporate all,of that that you grew up with and the,way you parent,i mean i definitely am the daughter of a,farmer and im,the daughter my sisters and i feel like, almost like our parents were immigrants, because they had so,i mean we they arent we havent been, through nearly what people have been, through but,at all i mean we havent been through, anything but i just mean our parents had, that mentality,of um education first pull yourself up,by your bootstraps, hard work is everything and um and also, what you eat is what you grow is what, you eat and, theres something so beautiful about, that so i guess one way is just that, ive always had a huge garden,my mom baked bread on sundays and thats, why i bake bread and thats why i make, bagels rising and um look at that cozy, look,at that and how do you how do you make, sure your kids eat well hoda and i i,introduced hodas daughter to teddy, graham, yeah on accident on accident by the way, yeah, and its been a real well probably call, them tgs now they have a shortened name, how do you make sure your kids get, understand we go through,we go through those phases i just, honestly i dont sweat it that much,i just put good food out there and when, everyones hungry before dinner my mom, always says thats when you have, chopped up Save the Children (NGO) – Press Conference (31 May 2017)
good morning everyone thank you for, being here I know its a very busy day,at the United Nations as a new president,of the UN General Assembly is going to,be elected thanks for making the time to,join us my name is Susan Elsner Im the, head of the United Nations,non-governmental liaison service New,York office our program develops dynamic, partnerships between civil society, organizations in the United Nations Save, the Children whos here today with us is,one of the most effective, nongovernmental organizations we work, with they do whatever it takes to help, children around the world so its an,honor to be together today I had one of,my most profound experiences here at the,UN in an event that we Co organized with,Save the Children last year during the, summit for refugees and migrants in,which we brought together three Syrian, children who to be in dialogue with the,UN secretary-general and member states,as well as other refugees and migrants,so this is a very nice and welcome,follow-up today on the eve of the,International Day of Children which is,tomorrow so to commemorate this, important day see the children is here,to share new research on the state of,childhood worldwide they will be,launching a report today at 2 oclock,p.m. which is entitled the end of,childhood report and you will hear today, from several of the speakers about the, findings we would like to remind you, that this report is embargoed until 2,oclock p.m. today at which time it will,be released globally and thank you for, cooperation on that embargo I am very, very honored to introduce todays, panelists immediate immediately to my,left is Carolyn miles president and CEO,of Save the Children under Carolyns, leadership Save the Children has more, than doubled the number of children it,reaches with nutrition health education, and other programs in 120 countries, worldwide in the United States alone, they helped more than 143 million, children Id like to take this, opportunity to highlight the overlap of,save the childrens work with the UN,sustainable development goals especially, the first five or six goals if you look,at them theyre very personal goals and, they really matter for children were, talking about ending poverty ensuring no,hunger for all, worldwide and especially the most, vulnerable such as children ensuring, education access to clean water and, sanitation gender equality which is,essential well hear a lot today Im,sure about the distinct impacts on young, girls of some of the childhood Enders so,its critical that we give additional, focus to helping the most marginalized, when the world came together to agree, the sustainable development goals they, made a commitment to leave no one behind,I would like to emphasize that I think,we should be giving attention to the, most marginalized first so sort of flip,it to make a priority for that and this, should be an agenda that everyone can, unify behind and I believe that helping, children is the most universal unifier,so after Carolyn miles we are honored to,hear from dr. Jill Biden who is a,lifelong educator and former second lady,of the United States and then we are, also joined by MS Marta Santos pace, special representative of the,secretary-general on violence against, children as a high-level global, independent advocate marta promotes, prevention and elimination of all forms,of violence against children in the,Justice setting in the home in,institutional care in schools in the, workplace and in the community so you,can get a sense of the incredible work, and the breadth of expertise that we,have on these panelists and at this time,Im honored to transition to miss,Carolyn miles to begin the remarks thank, you very much thank you thanks so much,Susan thank you for your gracious, remarks and for hosting us here today,I just them back from Jordan last night,so my brain is still trying to catch up,with my body a little bit here so if I,say anything strange youll have to,excuse me but Im really passionate, about this topic this is the topic of,childhood and obviously thats so,critical and important to save the, children, you know childhood is should be a time,to learn to grow to play thats what, childhood is all about yet this new, research in our stolen childhood report, shows that one in four children, worldwide are missing out for a variety,of reasons on childhood the childhood, that they deserve, that means that more than 700 million, children globally are not having the, childhood that they should have and that, includes children right here in the,United States,so in this first-of-its-kind report, around we look around the globe and, examine what what are those things that, are happening for kids why are children, having their childhood ended so we took,a hard look at what we call childhood,Enders and those are events or,circumstances that bring about an end to,childhood and we looked at 8 things, globally around the world child, mortality malnutrition being out of,school so a child being out of school, child labor child marriage early, pregnancy so children having children, becoming a victim of extreme violence, and forced displacement of by conflict, which all of us know is affecting, millions and millions of children today, and many that I met when I was in Jordan,so our analysis and our new end of,childhood index reveals that childhood,is maybe not surprisingly most intact in,Scandinavian and European countries and, most threatened in sub-saharan Africa, according to our rankings Norway and,Slovenia are tied for number one so,thats where if you look across all, eight of those indicators those, countries and the children in those, countries do the best they have the most, opportunity at childhood Finland holds,at number three and the number four, ranking is also shared its by the,Netherlands and Sweden so these, countries if you look at those eight, childhood Enders all of these countries,do quite well in terms of reduction of,child marriage reduction of child, mortality reduction of early pregnancy, making sure that every child is in,school for example but the ten bottom, ranked countries seven are from West and,Central Africa and theyre the reverse, image of the top so if you look at those, childhood Enders in these countries, theyre least likely to experience fully,a childhood because of those eight, things very high rates of child, mortality very high rates of early, pregnancy high rates of violence against, children and forced displacement so in,these countries children dont have that, opportunity to learn to grow and to play, now although those Western Central,African countries are at the bottom of,the ranking there are some signs of,progress for example if you look at,under five mortality in places like,Liberia and Niger those rates have been, cut so this isnt just about poverty, its not just about the poverty that, exists its also about the commitments, that people in those countries make to,childhood how important that I think it,is for children there to have a,childhood,so these successes show that political, choices can actually be made and have, been made even in poor countries in,addition to the top and bottom rankings, this report also sheds light on,important regional trends so I wanted to,share some of the the global trends, across those eight childhood Enders that,we talked about every day more than,160,000 children sorry 16,000 children, die before reaching their fifth birthday,so thats every day 16,000 children, around the world and thats from, preventable and treatable causes 156,million children under the age of five, will be stunted because of malnutrition, and many of us know that stunting is not, just a physical affliction but its a,mental affliction it really impacts, these kids for their entire lives 263,million children are out of school so,that statistic is more than all the, children in the developed world so think, about the fact that here in the United,States every child would be out of,school and in many other developed, countries to get to that 263 million, children in the, clapping world that a
