To simulate this planet, we cover it entirely in water and freeze it to create the icy surface. Man's planet has a cold environment but is not immediately deadly. A negative temperature of -12 degrees Celsius (-9 degrees Fahrenheit) is suitable, but protection from the cold is still required.

In the movie, the characters travel through a wormhole near Saturn to reach the Gargantua system. To recreate this, we add a second black hole as our "wormhole" next to Saturn. To establish a link between our solar system and the Interstellar system, we position the two systems hundreds of light-years away from each other.
