Introduction

Welcome to this introductory walk-through of PrimeTime Draft Football. In this article, we will guide you step by step on how to set up and start drafting using PrimeTime Draft software.

Setting up PrimeTime Draft Football

To begin, click the "Create a new draft..." button and name your draft. Once done, click OK to proceed. This will take you to the Draft Management screen, where you can configure various settings for your draft.

Draft Management

The Draft Management screen is where you can customize your draft according to your league's preferences. Firstly, select the number of teams participating in your league. Next, determine the number of rounds your league will draft. PrimeTime Draft supports various draft types, such as snake, auction, straight, and 3rd round reversal. Choose the draft type that aligns with your league's rules.

One important setting is the time limit for each pick. Set the maximum amount of time a person should take to make a pick. Although PrimeTime Draft won't force a pick when the limit is reached, it will notify everyone with a horn sound and turn the clock red as a reminder.

Choose the clock direction that suits your preference - up or down. This determines whether the clock counts up or down during the draft. If your league drafts individual defensive players (IDP), select "Yes" for the IDP support option.

PrimeTime Draft offers a text-to-voice feature that audibly announces each selection. You can decide whether to display bye weeks on the draft board or not. Additionally, you have the option to enable "RemoteView," a free web service that allows participants who cannot attend the draft party to view the draft board and make selections remotely. Please note that RemoteView will be covered in a separate video.

On the Draft Management screen, you'll also find the team names and draft order. Feel free to customize the team names to match those in your league. Should you need to change the draft order, you can easily drag and drop the teams.

Configuring draft settings

Once all the draft settings are configured, you are ready to start the draft. Click the "Start draft!" button to proceed. This will take you to the draft board view.

Viewing the draft board

Upon entering the draft board view, you may encounter a help box explaining how to add players, remove players, and modify clock positions. Click OK to dismiss the help box.

The draft has begun, and the first team is on the clock. When a team decides on their pick, simply click on the clock to add their selection to the draft board.

Adding players to the draft board

To add players to the draft board, you have several options. The most convenient method is to use the Smart Search field. Start typing the player's name, and a list of matching players will appear. For example, typing "A" will display Adrian Peterson at the top of the list. As you continue typing, the list narrows down to find the desired player quickly.

Clicking on a player's name will provide a preview of the selection. Confirm the selection and click the "OK" button to add the pick to the board. The clock will automatically move to the next team based on the draft type.

Removing a player from the board

If a player needs to be removed from the board, simply click on their name and confirm the removal by clicking "Yes." The player will be taken off the board and added back to the pool of available players.

Changing the team on the clock

To change the team that is currently on the clock, click on the slot corresponding to the desired team. This will shift the clock to the selected team.

Modifying draft settings during the draft

At any point during the draft, you can click the "Back" button to return to the Draft Management screen. Note that the number of teams and rounds are locked during the draft, but you can modify all other settings as needed.
